Choon

Went to the Teebee show on saturday after all. Who was I kidding. I didn’t really have anything else to do. He played that Chase & Status “Take Me Away” tune that I told you I liked the other day. Pipeline liked it too. A lot. :)   I’ve actually already listened to the Format mix I posted below. I quite enjoyed it. There’s some cuts on there from Zero T’s upcoming album. So far the few tunes I’ve heard have been awesome.

I have a bunch of weddings and shit coming up this year so I feel like I’ve had to penny pinch which is kinda sad cuz there’s actually loads of records I want.

The day has actually passed me by. I’ve been semi busy at work. I actually had a lot of stuff I wanted to post about but that’ll have to wait til tomorrow. In the meantime check out the Format mix and peep Stunna’s top 10 which I’m sure I’ll hear him play and own next year sometime. ;)

Hot Hot Heat

Chicago in the summertime is awesome. I love having it be too hot to sit around your place and going out and meeting up with friends for drinks. That’s what I did last night. It was 87 degrees at 11:30pm… Crazy.

Yes, the weekend is here. Teebee is at Dynamite this weekend. I think I said I’d go but to be honest I really don’t want to. Let me stop kidding myself, I don’t really have any other plans so I’ll probably end up going anyways.

I’m pretty content with the mixes I have on rotation right now. That Dan Marshall one is pretty good and I’ve actually been listen to the one I posted below all day today.

Huh?

So, do I always sound like Minnie Mouse and people just don’t tell me? My hearing has been fucked up for the past couple of days and one thing I’ve noticed is that my voice is kinda high. I mightCookie Monster have to start bringing some bass into my voice, cookie monster style. It’s funny how often you take your hearing for granted. My hearing is slightly off right now and I haven’t really been able to hear things properly and I can’t seem to stop talking about it cuz it’s quite disturbing that everything doesn’t sound perfect.

I’m sorta excited to play today. I don’t only hang out with dnb people, so it’s nice to have an event that I can invite all my peeps to. It’ll be fun. I think my only gripe is I wish I had more new records. I hear so much new shit and I have a very greedy “gimme” attitude about it. I want all the stuff I hear but since I am not a millionaire and don’t mix out enough anymore to justify spending money on it, my collection at hand will have to do.

I was listening to that Format mix yesterday and there’s this awesome Zero T & Icicle track on there. Why don’t I have it?? When is it coming out?? Is it out already?? Do I need to keep using all these question marks????????? These questions need to be answered because I love the tune! ;) We already know how I feel about Zero T, and Icicle is equally as awesome. I really am into a lot of his stuff. One of my faves is definitely Strange Fruit.

I’m trying to get my shit sorted today. I just wanna get my work done and go home.  It’s way too nice out already to be sitting inside an office. I will wholeheartedly admit that I didn’t search too hard for a mix today.  I don’t know who D Zine is but his mix will serve the purpose of keeping me company at work. :)

Calling All Patients…

I absolutely promise that today is the last day I write about being sick. I’m even sick of writing about it so Im sure you’re sick of hearing about it. I know I’m feeling better but I’m really not well. I justTonsilitis don’t feel like I’m dying anymore which is a definite step up. My throat is still really swollen though and I’ve got a really horrible headache. I haven’t eaten any real food for like seven days. I’ve been surviving on a soup and Jamba Juice diet because my taste buds are shot and my throat is too swollen for me to actually swallow anything. I like soup and Jamba Juice as much as the next person but for seven days in a row it’s not really that appetizing. I’ve finally decided that if I’m not fully better by thursday I’ll go to the doctor. It’s hard for me to consider actually going to the doctor because I never get sick and it’s not something I do that frequently. Usually I just wait for whatever I’ve got to go away on it’s own and it usually does but this, whatever it is, is staying put. I’m also pretty sure that my throat looks like the pic to the right, which is not cute. Sorry for the gross pic but we’re family now and I think you too should share in my misery. ;)

Moving on, I went to the bike shop with CC yesterday. I’ve been trying to figure out what would be the best bike for me. I’m not trying to become a professional bike messenger type person. I just wanna ride my bike to work and around my neighbourhood. I’m willing to spend some money on it so I don’t necessarily think I should have to buy a bike from Target. I also have steep stairs so the bike has to be light enough that I can carry it without dying. I’ve decided to get a used one and fix it up. CC’s completely obsessed with her bike and she spent quite a pretty penny on it so she kinda knows what she’s doing and has been giving me some pointers. She also practically lives at the bike shop so at least I know the people won’t be a dick to me. We discussed all my needs and what I would have to get done and it seems like it’s all gonna go pretty well so I’m excited for next week’s prospects.

I guess I should make an official post about tomorrow. If you live in the Chi Town area, I’m playing at Lava. Random Movement is the Headliner. I’ll be playing from 10 til Midnight. I think it’s a pretty fun night but I’m biased because that’s where all my friends are. If you like dnb it’s definitely good local fun. Come hang out.

I heard this new Chase & Status tune the other day that I’m kinda digging Take Me Away. It’s weird how Chase & Status is so hit and miss for me. I really like the first tune and then you listen to the other one and I’m like ugh. There’s also a pretty cool Zero T remix of Leave Me Alone.

Back In Business

Miserable ToddlerI’ve felt like that crabby baby to the right for the past seven days. Fortunately I no longer feel that way. I’m not 100% but I at least don’t feel like I’m about to keel over and die.

All in all I had a pretty good weekend. I got all hopped up on meds and went to Bass Goes Boom on friday. Man, if you live in Chicago and you love dubstep and don’t go to this night, you’re crazy. Chef absolutely killed it. That night is really fun. It was nice to see Mike too both him and Tim threw down as well.

I finally went to the apple store and invested in a new ipod dock. Yay. I managed to get to work today with not a single person saying a word to me… just how I like it. I definitely have missed my ipod. Welcome back buddy.

Since I’ve been sick my equilibrium is all off and my hearing was all fucked up and I’ve had a really hard time mixing but I’m happy to say that my hearing has returned slightly. Not fully, but enough that I at least don’t feel like I’m sitting in a tin can. I’m playing at Lava on wednesday for the Random Movement show and it should be an interesting set to say the least.  The night will include 3 of my favourite things so it really can’t end up being that horrid, 1) My friends 2) Drum n Bass 3) Lava. ;)

Found this Doc Scott Mix. Everyone on Breaksblog seems to be raving about it so hopefully it’s enjoyable.

I still haven’t gotten a new ipod dock. The apple store is downtown and I just Mr. Belvedere haven’t had time to get there yet. It’s my loss. My ipod died two days ago since it hasn’t been charged. It’s a bonus that I get to listen to music on the way to work but I also use my ipod to deter people from talking to me. Of course the second I don’t have my ipod, yesterday 2 homeless people hit on me and today a white man who looked like Mr. Belvedere and was at least 68 asked me out for coffee. Go figure. I guess it’s nice to know that I attract all kinds. ;)

I was listening to Overfiend’s show on Bassdrive yesterday and there were sooooo many good cuts. I was feeling quite ill (and still am but am at work cuz I’m a trooper) but at least I got to listen to good music. I’m such a nerd I wrote down the key songs I was digging. I totally have a notebook where I keep songs that I hear and would like to get when they come out. Geeky? Yes indeed.

Dan Marshall – Word’s Can’t Explain: I’ve heard this song a lot lately. The vocal is awesome.

Submorphics – Desperate Times: I’m biased. Greg is friend of mine but I actually was a fan of his music before we became friends. I played Make It Happen (the mp3′s are switched so if you wanna hear Make It Happen click on the Young Ax tune) so much that I need a new copy.

Paul SG – Bright Soul: Am I horrible for not knowing who he is? Well I know him now. He has some awesome stuff. There was another track that he has with Calculon that I loved as well, Part of Me, which was pretty dope too.

Bachelors of Science – Beautiful Life: Not really much to say here. BOS always have great stuff. I’m a big fan of theirs.

The workload has subsided a little so I’m just enjoying listening to music and focusing on revisions. Bailey opens his set up with our favourite dreadlocked wonder Will Miles and also has some serious action with my newest dnb obsession, Survival (yeh yeh yeh, I’m late jumping on the bandwagon) I’m twenty minutes in and already lovin it.  I guess I can tolerate Bailey’s love of the clown for a DNAudio set. :)

Is that the plural of tracheotomy?  Well whatever it is I need one.  My throat is totally wack right now.  I never get sick and I feel like I’ve been poorly on and off for the past month or so.  Extremely lame.

I’m totally swamped at work and have been looking for things to do to procrastinate cuz I’m feeling too whiny to work but I can’t even get into the Bassdrive chat room which sucks cuz Overfiend is totally killing it right now and I would love to add my 2cents and waste the day away bantering with Ju Ju. :( (wow.  awesome run on sentence.)

I guess I’ll just be a good worker and complain about my throat to myself.
