Kiki Returns

13 Feb

So I’m back.  Mexico was awesome.  90 degrees everyday.  Some serious lounging.  Loved it!

Not that old but utterly brilliant.  Love this tune.  You can get some serious headnodding going to this one.

Ooh I’m excited to listen to this Alley Cat.

Viva Me-hi-co!

5 Feb

I leave for Mexico today. I checked the forecast and it’s pretty much going to be 90 degrees the entire time we’re there. Vacay with my friends, best friend’s wedding, sunshine, sunshine and more sunshine. Nice.

I’m a little anxious about not writing in my blog. I know it’s dumb but I’m very OCD when it comes to things like that. I have consistently written in my blog 5 days a week since I started it in May and I hate looking at the calendar to the right and seeing empty spaces. I prolly shouldn’t be divulging my neurotic tendencies to you but I’ve already established that I’m kinda cuckoo so who cares. Anyways, lounging in the sun automatically trumps writing in my blog so I’m sure I’ll get over it.

Be back in business next Friday so brock out til then peeps!

I guess I’m in a vocals mood today. :)

1998?? God I’m getting old. I can’t believe this tune is 11 years old. Dope classic. Dancefloor stormer for sure. Doing these oldies every day makes me want to just make old skool mixes all day long. I get all amped up picking out the tunes.

Snuggle Bunny Kiki

4 Feb

Over Christmas was when I saw the snuggie commercial for the first time.  It brought me much amusement.  I feel like the commercial is made in the same way as the “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” ones were.  Pure hilarity.

I was talking to my friend Mike’s gf, Erin the other day and she showed me something that one ups the snuggie, the couch sack!!!  What!  Ten times better than the snuggie.  I like to be as cozy as the next person but this shit is out of control.  LOL.

There are some days where you just don’t really know what’s going on.  Know what I mean?  You ponder things, you wonder how things are going to pan out, you really just don’t have a grasp on it and it’s not really that bothersome, it just peaks your curiosity even more.  I’m having one of those today.

On that note, in dedication to my post title I figured I would post the link to that horrific video by C & C Music Factory.

Tunes:
Dj Clart – Rain (track is in player)

Simplification – Sixth Dimension (track is in player)

Today’s Oldie:
B-keyCapacitorXXX 2000
When I first started to learn to mix, understanding the beatmatching concept was not my problem.  I kinda already got that concept.  I’m good at math so it just made sense.  My big problem was understanding how to use the equipment.  It took me a while to get comfortable with all the things you could do with the mixer.  For the longest time I just blended.  No tricks. Nothing.  Then I went through the phase where I understood how the phono/line button could be used in your mix and I’m sure everyone cursed the day I learned that.  Every mix I just went nuts.  This B-key was one of my favourites cuz it’s a really fun track to play with the phono/line button.  All the elements are awesome and just make the blend that more interesting.  Lovesit!  Awesome noisy business.

Lekke! I’ve missed you.  I’ve always enjoyed his mixes, they are just nice to listen to.  I found this one on Doddi’s Blog.  I’m gonna listen right now.

It’s funny that I wrote a post about how I don’t wild out and then I go and stay out til 5:40 a.m. last night.

I’m tired. I’m such a geriatric.

Tunes:
Scenic & Advisory – Don’t Tell Me
It’s no secret that I’m totally jockin Scenic & Advisory these days. LOL. Right now my fave of theirs is called Nothing Is Forever but sorry I don’t have a sample, I’ve just been hearing it on Bassdrive. Don’t Tell Me is dope too though. These guys’ music is totally the pretty dnb that I love. Check out the other stuff in their player.
