Kiki Raises The White Flag

I admit defeat.  Graduate school is officially the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life.  I still am enjoying what I’m learning but dang, there’s so much work and it really is becoming a bit overwhelming.  Don’t worry I’m not gonna get all emo.  I’m hanging in there.  I can’t wait til this semester is over though.

Some good dnb shows come up in the Chi so that’s at least something to look forward to.

Always good to see A Sides.  He never disappoints. <3

The following week Calculon will be back throwing down at Smart Bar.  Love Calculon too.  Will be an awesome distraction to hang out with the dnb homies and listen to some good tunes as finals approach.  If you are in town make sure to come hang out.  You know there are good times to be had!

I survived summer classes.  Woot.  It was touch and go there for a while.. ;)   There’s 3 weeks before fall semester starts and I’m relishing in that little time to enjoy my summer holidays.  Like I’ve said before, any day where I don’t have to think about whether or not I did my homework or read the numerous pages in my textbook is a lovely one.

In dnb land I’ve become a robot.  LOL.  I was reading so much and doing so much work for school that I would just have a line of mixes that I was playing to keep me sane.  I’m so glad that the days of not being able to find dnb mixes to listen to are over cuz the past couple of weeks would have been pretty rough!  Big ups all the other bloggers out there that help us dnb maniacs find mixes and tunes to download and listen to. <3

I’m happy to report that there is a wicked dnb event tonight which coincides perfectly with the start of my summer holiday.  Yes!  Tonight I will be enjoying cocktails with my besties and listening to dnb very loudly.  If you live in Chicago, you should be doing the same.  No cover, Caculon, Stunna, Submorphics, Radiata, Midway, Dr. Groo and MC Question Mark.  Can’t really beat that folks.

I’m trying to make myself sound like I haven’t been neglecting you.  LOL.  I have thought about writing an entry so many times this month and then life has distracted me and all of a sudden it’s July 26… Dang.

Anyways, better late than never right?

July went by so quick.  There’s only 4 more classes of this second summer session class I’m taking left.  How did that happen?  I swear the class  just started.

I feel like we were complaining about summer taking it’s sweet time and then all of a sudden it just got here and was in full effect.  Lovin it.  I always love Chicago in the summer time.  I say that like it’s over, there’s still more of it left so I’m going to enjoy it while I can.

I feel like I keep repeating myself when I say that there are so many good tunes out but seriously it’s no joke.  A new dnb night has started and I’m looking forward to having a little dance party on a loud ass soundsystem (more details as the date approaches).  I will tell you that Calculon is coming for the August 11th edition though.  Woot.

So so so sick. I posted the remix so I reckon I have to post the original too.  I used to have such a Krome & Time obsession back in my early rave days.  Ganja Man is still one of my ultimate fave tunes, especially the Hype remix because it is so ridiculously awesome.

You can’t really go wrong with Makoto can you??  I feel bad cuz I don’t post that much and whenever I do I post a plethera of Random Movement mixes.  LOL.  I am aware of the fact that not everyone loves to listen to RM as much as I do, so I figured no one would mind if we did a little switch to Makoto.  Enjoy. :)

I’ve had a pretty awesome week.  It’s my bday tomorrow.  I’m having a nice dinner with some friends.

The partying continues for the moment though.  It’s funny that I never go out and I’ve pretty much been out all this week.  Last night Calculon was still here so we went to Smart Bar and saw 12th Planet.  He killed it.  I was super into his set.  Smart Bar again tonight.  LTJ woot.  Submorphics is opening.  Woot squared.  I would have to give this week a 10/10… ha that also happens to be my date of birth.  Groan.  Yes I’m corny.

Grrr.  I fucked up my shoulder at the gym yesterday.  Pain, pain, pain.  The annoying part about shit like that is you just have to wait for it to go away.

Shakedown was fun yesterday at first I was miserable cuz I was tired and my shoulder hurt but then I went home, relaxed for a bit and came back and kicked it.  Lava being a 5 minute walk from my house is always a bonus.  I loved Dave Owen’s set.  Good tunes.

Libra What What!

It’s my birthday in two weeks. I love this time of year. I’m an autumn baby and love this season to bits. The greyness, the leaves all over the ground. Awesome. I pretty much dream of weather where I can wear just a hoodie year round but instead will settle for the months of September and October.

My bike has a flat tire. Lame.

Robot Redford & M. Sauer – Missing Out – I’ve been hearing this on a lot of mixes. I really like this tune. Track is in the player

Future Sound of Cambridge Vol. 3 – Some nice tracks on there from the likes of Nu:Tone, Logistics and Commix. A couple of tunes that I’ve talked about before are on there. Dunno if I’ll be picking it up… Watch someone’s gonna play one of these tracks out and I’ll hear it on a loud sound system and be annoyed I didn’t buy it. Story of my life. :)

It’s the kind of day where you really want to just sit at home and be all cozied up on the couch. Alas I’ll be at my desk.

Today’s oldie: Jonny L – Moving Thru Air (Optical Remix) – XL Recordings 1998 I definitely was quite the Optical fan back then. I will fully admit that I had an all out dnb crush on him. I think mentally I was just on this gritty plane where I wanted my music to be raw and disgruntled yet melodic but not loud and noisy and to me Optical’s production was just that. Really great tune.
