The holiday season was good to me. – Stuffed my face over Thanksgiving and spent some quality time with my family, – Jaunted over to Sierra Leone with my mum for Christmas. – Visited my dad (him being buried in Sierra Leone is bittersweet, as I don’t get to visit as often as I’d like.) – Finished up the year in Wisconsin with my sister and brother-in-law.
January is trudging along. I’m just here listening to Emma G. This month’s episode has her all vinyl demo mix from 2006 and it’s so good! So many amazing tracks came out during that era.
Mondays suck after you’ve had an enjoyable weekend.
Iβve made new friends in LA, but itβs still such a treat to see my besties. Adult life is not for the weak. Navigating families, time off, kids, and packed schedules makes it hard to find quality time with your people, especially when they donβt live nearby.
Iβm fortunate to have close friendships that span 20 to 30 years. Most of those friends are in Minnesota, Chicago, or overseas, so I donβt get to see them often. Luckily, one of my Chicago besties moved to San Diego, so it was nice to get a good girl hang in for a couple of days.
I really don’t feel like switching to work mode now. π
Listening to another one of my besties and working on getting this module ready for UAT.
I’m so stubborn about my collocation tracks. If I decide you two go together, that’s it. Mates for life. Soz.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a planner. I usually just mix whatever, but once I decide two tracks are an elite combo, I find it hard to not hear them together and I love riding out a long blend.
What’s even funnier is that I have ADHD, so my working memory is shit. I’ll always be like “ooh these two will sound super good together” and get excited about the combo and then I’ll listen to an old mix I made and it’s the same two tunes that I mixed together ages ago. π
Current life partners I’ve been mixing a lot are Fox and Satl’s “Revellin'” with Benny L’s “Pulp Fiction” remix.
Working and listening to Satl’s mix from this year’s Sun and Bass. I was there and got to enjoy it in person. Happy I get to listen to it again. π₯°
Had a lovely time at SnB. I love that it’s just a great hols with dnb sprinkled all over. I got to hang with my girl Alley Cat, have some great meals, jaunt around Sardinia, and enjoy heaps of really enjoyable dnb sets. Perfect holiday imo. π₯°

Wrapping a project means laser like raving focus as I QA/QC my Storyline file checking all the variables/triggers etc. This is usually done while listening to drum and bass at full volume. It’s 8:18 am and I’m at my desk getting my 48 year old raver granny on and that image just cracks me up sometimes. π΅πΎ
I love words and language. βSedulousβ was my dictionary word of the day recently. Iβm deep in the throes of building this project Iβve been working on, so I suppose I am actually being quite sedulous.
I barely have any meetings this week, which means Iβve been able to focus most of my time on completing this module. Hence the rare window to crank out three posts in a single week. π€£
LA was so rude this weekend! π€£ We went from like 60 degrees on Monday to 96 on the weekend. I just stayed inside, enjoying my rent and frigid temps.
Currently doing some QA/QC on a module and listening to Pola & Bryson.
I was recently telling a colleague about my Livejournal. Yikes! π€£ I started blogging in 2001. I joined Livejournal and just yapped endlessly about everything. I finally got so sick of myself and my cringy early 20s behaviour, that I ended that blog and created this one. At first I decided I wasn’t going to talk about myself and just post my fave mixes and tunes, but eventually, cuz I’m such a blabbermouth, parts of my life started to creep into my posts. I still don’t update as much as I would like, but I have decided that I do like the fact that this platform exists for me after all these years. π
I can’t help it. Any time anyone says the word “visage”, I just hear Lauren going “Regardez mon visage ” π€£
I’m a huge Visages & Monty fan. I really love the way they produce together. That Gen Z phrase fits appropriately for my love for this tune. “I Don’t Want to Go to Heaven has definitely gone platinum in my car.” π
I really enjoyed this North Quarter Echobox episode. It was nice to have Greg back and the Mantra mix was π₯.
I’m here. Been busy with work. Not a valid excuse for not posting, but alas, what can I say?
Listening to some SirReal. Always love his mixes. π₯°
