2026 & Kiki

Happy New Year! 🍾🍾🍾

The holiday season was good to me.
– Stuffed my face over Thanksgiving and spent some quality time with my family,
– Jaunted over to Sierra Leone with my mum for Christmas.
– Visited my dad (him being buried in Sierra Leone is bittersweet, as I don’t get to visit as often as I’d like.)
– Finished up the year in Wisconsin with my sister and brother-in-law.

January is trudging along. I’m just here listening to Emma G. This month’s episode has her all vinyl demo mix from 2006 and it’s so good! So many amazing tracks came out during that era.

Working. My favourite thing about my job is that I can just sit at my desk, blast dnb in my headphones, and get on with it. I’m way more productive with music than without.

Just picked up this Archangel yesterday. Been waiting for it to get released! 😍

I’ve lived in LA for 7 years and it’s only this year I started hanging out with LA dnb people. Totally nothing wrong with that. It’s just funny to me that it took me this long.

I belonged to 2 wonderful dnb scenes that I am deeply fond of. My djing/raving years in Minneapolis and Chicago are such a treasure to me and the people that I befriended during that time are my nearest and dearest. I’m 47, don’t really go out that much anymore apart from the odd show here and there, and I am content with the friends that already exist in my life. I mix at home and have a 24 hour dnb playist in my headphones, so it’s really not all that surprising that I hadn’t made any new dnb friends, but… 7 years is a long time. 😂

Anyway, I’m enjoying the switch up. I’m used to living a solo LA dnb life and it’s nice to have some new people to share this 30 year obsession with.

Currently obsessed with this Emma G mix on TNQ’s Echobox Radio show. If you want to listen, it’s the last 30 minutes of this episode. Now we all know I never pass up a TNQ mix, but this one I’m posting solely for the Emma G guest mix. I’ve been listening to it on repeat for the past 4 days. Such a lovely mix with so many good tunes.😍

2024. 🥰
2023 was … I don’t really have the words. It wasn’t good. It wasn’t bad. It was just there. 

I had a lovely holiday season. I spent a lot of time with my family and I really enjoyed it. I’m ready to start my new year with purpose and excited for whatever is to come.

Having a chill morning. 
I really enjoyed this mix with Emma G going b2b with Satl from November.

Is it delusional to believe that I actually do my best work under pressure? Who bloody knows? I’ve been living with this delusion for the past 45 years, so, why change now?

Anyway, writing a paper that’s due at 11pm today.

I’ve pretty much just been listing to 1985 Music 5 Years Remix EP and that Confessions EP on Integral on repeat. It’s a great soundtrack to my research paper I tell you. 😉

Still in London. Still got heaps to sort out with the house. I’ve kind of developed a routine, so the process of going through all my dad’s stuff, albeit repetitive, has become a little easier. I had to sort out his clothes the other day though and that broke me. I have also somewhat figured what I need to do to get the house emptied and ready to be sold, and I’m still doing all my school assignments. Basically, I’m hanging in there. 🙃

Me and Kathy are going to see the homie Submorphics this weekend. I’m very much looking forward to this show: a) It will be great to see Greg! b) We all know how much I love Lenzman. c) The whole lineup is actually great and d) I haven’t been to a show in almost 2 years!

Ideally I’d post a North Quarter tune, but I’ve been listening to this Tatora & Satl on repeat for the past couple of days, so I think I should share that instead. 🥰

Summer is Over Kiki

Yeh right. Tell that to LA. I didn’t do much this weekend as it was 111°. The only thing I wanted was my central air.

The goal is to be proactive this week and complete a lot of tasks. I’m happy to say that I’ve been sticking to the plan and have managed to get a lot done so far.

There are a lot of awesome mixes out right now so I’ve been vibing as I scurry around.

Super excited about the Redeyes Selfportraits album coming out on The North Quarter this week. I’ve heard some tracks played from it already and they sound 🔥🔥🔥.

Many annoying little things to do today.  Starting the day off with this tune to set the tone.  Been waiting for it to come out!  Another producer pseudonym to figure out.  Sounds very SATL like to me.  *shrugs*  Doesn’t matter who it is.  I love it. 😊
