I’m here. Toiling my summer away. I am whinging about working through the summer, like it wasn’t me that made the decision to not work in academia anymore.
Instead, I guess I have to just get used to having an end of summer getaway of some sort. I’m tagging along to Sun and Bass again this year, so I am trying to keep my moaning at bay and wait for that trip.
Haven’t really been to many shows as of late. Just spending my time mixing in my bedroom and still listening to heaps of dnb as per usual.
I really enjoyed the Pola & Bryson album. My faves:
The weather’s quite lovely. I’m working at one of the standing desks and taking in the downtown LA views, listening to Klute.
Been in LA for seven years and adjusting to LA’s version of the seasons changing still takes some getting used to. The temp has finally dropped and I’m happy to be getting out the jumpers, long sleeves and hoodies. Cozy is my middle name.
I’ve got a lot of work on, but lowkey that’s a spot I enjoy being in. It allows me to just pop in my headphones, zone out, and do my work with no interruptions and listen to whatever I want.
This week I’ve been catching up on The Amen, Brother! Podcast. Love having it on in the background. It’s nice to be able to watch them on YouTube and pretend you’re in the room with them.
And just like that, summer is coming to an end. I feel like it whizzed by! I had fun though. Went to San Diego, just got back from celebrating a friend’s bday in New Orleans. Going to Sun and Bass next month. Can’t complain. 🥰
Been listening to the new Echo Brown EP on TNQ, Galvan Place. So happy Crisp Dollar Thrill is finally out!
Really enjoyed this month’s GLXY episode on Rinse. I know I posted them last time too, but I’m such a huge fan, can’t help it. 😁 Word on the street is they are coming to US. I would be so geeked if they came to LA.

Summer is just speeding on. I saw Lenzman a couple of weeks ago and it was so so dope. I love being able to go out and see dnb again. I had such a good time.
I was listening to Calibre’s remix of Klute’s Now, Always, Forever on the walk home from the bar, and man, that Calibre era had such a chokehold on me. Such a great remix.
My school moved, so I’ve been busy with that. Still kicking it. Still missing my dad. Still slaving over grad school homework. Still listening to a ridiculous amount of dnb. 😊
Hope you all are well.
I really enjoyed this month’s BankBeats. 🥰
Enjoy!

My life is def chaotic at the moment. I’m somewhat content though, so it’s not as stressful as it could be.
This semester will be done in a couple of weeks. My program requires that I do a summer semester, but I’ll still get a two week break, which I’m very much looking forward to.
Shows are back in full force! The Xcellerated lineup this weekend tho… 😮
Getting all my work done early so I can go and proper enjoy myself. Totally thought my eyes were deceiving me when I first saw the flyer. I’ve seen Zero T, Artificial Intelligence and Commix before, but not Redeyes. We know how I love my French dnb.
Very excited to just go listen to great music and dance. 🥰
Up early doing aforementioned work and listening to some Zero T. So many bangers. That Groove Theory tune at the end! 🔥🔥🔥
Don’t mind me, just up raving and doing homework at 3:45 am on a Tuesday. 😂
Back in LA. Looks like I left London at the right time, as the temp started dropping and a new variant wanting some attention. I lived in the Midwest for over 20 years, and 4 years in LA has made me forget what life in negative temps is like. 😂 That damp wet cold that showed up in London when I was leaving had me acting a straight fool. You would think I never experienced walking to the train with prickly cold cheeks as the wind made me cry.
I do feel a little less anxious about my dad’s estate. There’s still a long road ahead, as there’s still a lot of unfinished business, but it’s nice to get a little more clarity and closure on the house sitch.
It’ll be 1 year since he died in a couple of weeks, and it’s been hard that it’s taken this long to sort some of these things out. I have an amazing support network and I just have to trust that everything will work out like it needs to.
Planning some lessons for my classes that I have to teach tonight, after not having taught in almost 6 weeks. 🙃
This Flowanastasia and Nymfo hitting a little too on the nose for me today. 😂
Went to the 25 years of Metalheadz show this weekend. Talk about lit! Goldie & Fabio. LA shows really do have that energy. Such good vibes in the place. I was cheezin the whole time. There were many happy junglists at 1720. Big ups to Respect and Bassrush for such a treat.
