Hi! I got Covid in Tulum. I’m still recovering hence the absence and lack of Locus update.
In the meantime I took some time out to listen to the homie Stunna’s Bassdrive show. He gave me a heads up to let me know he had done a mini Martyn highlight, and we all know how much I love Martyn.
I’ll write my updates soon. The lethargy from Covid recovery is just wiping me out!

Yes I’m here. Didja miss me? Last week was hectic. I ended up staying home for a full week. I got a lot of essay stuff done for my masters apps. I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to write, but know it was cuz I was actually really busy and not just cuz I was being lazy. 🙂
Fall is upon us and it seems like my schedule keeps getting busier and busier. I’m not complaining. I am not a person that likes to be idle.
Last week was a good music week. I saw Martyn in Millenium Park at the Sonar Festival which was awesome. Falty DL and Marcel Dettmann performed at the Smart Bar after parties. Mixed at a dnb rave. Really good times. Plastician is this week. As an electronic music enthusiast, I really can’t complain much these days. 🙂

Dang it was hot yesterday. Love it! The midwest is so funny in that aspect. It was 50 last week and now all of a sudden its 90. I spent my sunday in the park with Jessica and Joia. Good times.
Lost series finale was yesterday. I wasn’t as pissed as everyone else seemed to be. I liked it. I’m a sucker for happy endings. I don’t really care about the unanswered questions. My life will continue just fine. 😉
I also worked my first Smallbar big football game shift this weekend. It was the Champions League final and it was insane. Crazy busy, a lot of drinking. I remember I looked at the clock and it was 1230 and then when I looked again it was 445. I didn’t even know who won. LOL. (Inter Milan did if you didn’t already know) World Cup there is definitely going to be interesting. 🙂

It’s raining. It’s hard to be motivated when there’s gloomy clouds looming and a wet pavement. My weekend was lovely. Good friends, good food etc. Dope. Me and Caroline took a little trip to Bed Bath and Beyond and made over our bathroom and it looks awesome. It’s the little things people, the little things. 🙂
It’s nice when I have one dnb event to go to in a week, but two? Ed Oberon is at Shakedown on wednesday and I’m playing at Smart Bar on thursday. Woot. Also my friends Sam and Katie are coming to Chi for the weekend so I’m looking forward to that too. Yay, summer rules.

I have a lot of dnb records. I’ve been buying them since 1994. Needless to say sometimes if I can’t find a record it just stays missing for a long period of time. LOL. It’s even worse now because I don’t have my whole collection at my apartment, some is at my mum’s etc. Everything from about 1999 onwards is pretty much at my place though.
I remember a couple of years ago I lost my Martyn – Nxt 2 U. I went through all my records and it was just missing. When I used to play out a lot, I could at least entertain the notion that I might have lost it at a gig but I don’t really play out anymore so if I lose a record it HAS to be in my place!! I remember Stunna helped me look and we just didn’t see it. All the other Martyn records were there but no Nxt 2 U. I found it a year later. Just sitting on the shelf, peacefully, untouched and dust bunnied.
Why am I telling you this story? Today’s oldie is a Bad Company record that I’ve been thinking about buying again because I was convinced it was lost. It was one of my favourites on this one Virus double pack. I seriously have been looking for that record since I moved to Chicago back in ’02. I was convinced that I had lost it in the move from Minneapolis. When I was at Gramaphone on Saturday I saw a used copy and almost bought it but decided I’d have one more look through my shit. I went to go mix at Reisha’s yesterday and went through all my Virus stuff and the record was just there, just hanging out. Where do they hide??? 🙂
