Exams are over. Nothing more to grade. I’m still not really sure what exactly the kids do til next Wednesday when school officially finishes. All I know is it has nothing to do with me. I’ll just be sitting in my aforementioned hot ass office, waiting for August 3rd when I blow this popsicle stand.
I said goodbye to my students and it was waterworks central. smh. I’m such a crybaby. LOL. I still have a farewell English department dinner and have to give a speech at the closing ceremony next week. I’ll be too busy memorising my Japanese to actually cry then.
Currently listening to all the drum n bass. 😂 I’m just going through my Itunes having a solo dnb party as I clean out my desk and throw away all the rubbish I’ve accumulated over the past two years.

Exam Inferno
I just have to make it through this week of grading exams and then it’ll be just me sitting in a hot ass office for the 4 weeks until I leave. I don’t have any nenkyu left so there’s no last minute summer holiday and I’m okay with that. The remaining days I had left, I’m using to come home a little bit earlier.
I think i’m going to have to make friends with some of the teachers in the air conditioned offices. “I know it’s been 2 years and I haven’t spoken a word to you, but can I sit in here and watch Netflix so I don’t collapse from the heat?” 😛
My supervisor was laughing at me yesterday because my fan is pretty much touching my face. It’s hot af in my office.
I have 200 exams to grade today, so I’m making an epic playlist to zone out to. It’s the first years, so there’s no essay, and they will be easy to grade, but I might die from the repetition.
Straight Chillin’
I love Wednesdays. I only have to teach one lesson and then I get to organise my day however I please. At the mo I’m just cleaning out my desk and listening to some choons.
Jump Up
I’ve been listening to jump-up for like 5 hours. Should my sanity be questioned? Probably… but I finished writing 2 final exams and graded a bunch of work so whatevs.
Hawaiian Tropics
When I lived in Minneapolis, there was this girl I used to rave with sometimes that we called Hawaiian Tropics. It wasn’t a diss, she was actually trying her damnedest to become Miss Hawaiian Tropics. I had never heard of this competition until I met her. She was always really orange.
Currently, I’m pretending I’m on a beach listening to dnb and drinking margaritas. Really it’s 8 am, it’s rainy season and muggy as hell and I’m sitting in my office with a fan blowing in my face.
There is a bright spot though, I just transferred some old mixes from an external hard drive that I forgot I had brought with me to Japan, to my laptop and have been listening to some oldies but goodies. Of course I find the hard drive while I’m going through my things to pack up shit to move back.
Lets be honest though, this is not really that different from every other day where I spend a majority of my time listening to dnb from 15 odd years ago. This time around though, I have an even bigger library of mixes to choose from. 😉

Sardines
I have eaten a lot of sardines this year. I live next to Kujukuri, which is famous for its sardines, and have eaten them fresh many times. おいしいですね。
The only reason I’m talking about sardines is because I’m currently listening to the Ed Rush & Optical track.
I only teach one lesson on Wednesdays, so I spend the rest of the day lesson planning. Currently got a pretty awesome Ed Rush & Optical soundtrack going. ❤

I’m Awake! I’m Awake!
I’ve had the worst insomnia lately, and it’s been really hard to get a move on in the mornings. I trudge around my apartment as slowly as possible, and just groan and groan and groan.
This morning I really wasn’t feeling it and my iPhone knew it. (You know Apple knows everything). I hopped in the shower and pressed play on my speaker (one of my fave Xmas gifts ever) and this came blasting out. I just laughed and lamented out loud “I’m awake! I’m awake!”
The version that played off iTunes is from some compilation, so the tune just started right after the breakdown. Oh it was so damn loud.
I have a pretty wonderful memory about this record. It definitely wasn’t wonderful at the time, but now I think about it, it reminds me of some really fun times during my raving years.
I was a hardcore Bad Company Stan. Who wasn’t? I remember taking the bus to go pick up my copy of Planet Dust at the record store. I couldn’t wait because I of course had been waiting FOR-EVA for it to come out. I went there, picked it up, left immediately and was so excited to go home and mix it. I then proceeded to get off the bus and leave my damn record on it. I called the bus company (yes I did) and they said I should call at the end of that driver’s shift, 8 hours later, and I could see if the record was still on there. Um nope.
Being the most dramatic person I could be, was definitely my speciality in 2001. I went into my apartment, sulked for like 10 minutes, left the house and got on the bus again and returned to the record store to get another copy. I held on to this one for dear life. I’d be damned if EVERYONE was going to be playing it that weekend without me. LOL
I’m still dramatic af now, but dang, I really was killin’ it in ’01. 😛

I’m not a person that worries too much about age. I like getting older. *shrugs* I do think it is weird though when you think about stuff and you’re like “Dang that was a really really really long time ago.”
I just keep my iTunes on shuffle when I’m getting ready in the morning and this track came on. I remember buying this bootleg and just being so excited that it was a combination of Masters at Work and DnB. It sounded pretty and made me think of summer, simple as that.
Shout out to my roommates back then that pretended it wasn’t annoying af that I just kept this ish on repeat.
