Mondays suck after you’ve had an enjoyable weekend.
I’ve made new friends in LA, but it’s still such a treat to see my besties. Adult life is not for the weak. Navigating families, time off, kids, and packed schedules makes it hard to find quality time with your people, especially when they don’t live nearby.
I’m fortunate to have close friendships that span 20 to 30 years. Most of those friends are in Minnesota, Chicago, or overseas, so I don’t get to see them often. Luckily, one of my Chicago besties moved to San Diego, so it was nice to get a good girl hang in for a couple of days.
I really don’t feel like switching to work mode now. 😭
Listening to another one of my besties and working on getting this module ready for UAT.
Had a lovely time at SnB. I love that it’s just a great hols with dnb sprinkled all over. I got to hang with my girl Alley Cat, have some great meals, jaunt around Sardinia, and enjoy heaps of really enjoyable dnb sets. Perfect holiday imo. 🥰
Morning commute shuffle delivering the goods this a.m. 🧡
Loved this month’s Bankbeats installment. Lots of oldies to enjoy.

What a week. So so so much fun. My time in Sardinia has come to an end. I had a fab week with great people and great music.
The past 4 years since my dad died haven’t been the greatest. Things finally started to turn around when I got an awesome new job in April. It’s been lovely to go on holiday and just eat great food, listen to the music I enjoy, and spend time with top notch people.
Sun and Bass has been amazing. I met Stefano in Chicago back in 2008 when he was there for a work training. I love that I was finally able to make it to his event, albeit it 16 years later. 😂
Biggest thanks goes to my gal pal Alley Cat. She let me tag along as her plus one and was a stellar raving buddy/roommate for the entire week. Special shouts to Workforce, Skeptical, and Klute. Our little party crew for those first 3 days was elite. Also getting some lady hangz in with Chickaboo was A1 too. I got to party with my LA dnb crew and meet up with some people that I’ve known for ages, but never met in person. Everything was wonderful. 🥰
I don’t want to make this post too long. So many great sets were heard and just good vibes all around. I had a fantastic time and appreciate that I got to join the Sun and Bass massive this year.
Super duper late, but anyway, yes, I went to the TNQ night at Amsterdam Dance Event last month. I had so much fun! It was great to see Greg, and Flight was there as well. I hadn’t seen her in ages. It was nice to catch up. Me and my old lady raver bones lasted the whole night! Great sets all around.
I was in London to wrap up the last of my dad’s estate situation. It was nice to get a mini break from the sadness and go rave and hang out with friends and listen to great tunes. 🥰
Also got to check out Kool FM while I was in London. Me and Kathy went to keep Alicia company during her show. As a long time jungle raver, getting to go hang at Kool FM was pretty dope. Alicia had a great set as always and I kept say to the ladies how fun it was just to sit in a room, hang out with friends and listening to dnb really loudly. I mean I do that on my own all the time, but it was nice to do it with my friends. 😊
I love having the Kool FM/Rinse FM app. I listen to great mixes constantly. Not sharing a mix today, but I am currently obsessed with these 2 tunes and have had them on repeat for like 4 days. I had definitely heard both of them before on some other mixes, but didn’t know who they were by. I hyper-fixate like nobody’s business. I’ll write down which mix I heard a tune on and the minute count so I can keep going back to trainspot it until I know who it’s by. 😂
Love me some Echo Brown.
This is track is soooo good.
Headed to New Jersey this weekend. Going to spend Thanksgiving with my brother and my whole family is going to be there. That hasn’t happened in a while. I’m super excited about it. Happy Turkey Day to those of you that celebrate. 🦃🦃🦃
Man! I’ve already been back from Mexico for 17 days?? It doesn’t seem like that at all. Covid really took me out. I’m in somewhat tip top shape again and back on the bullshit… begrudgingly.
Locus. I had a really really really lovely time. Much thanks to my homegirl Alley Cat for letting me be her +1. I loved her set so much! Not only did she play D Kay and Lee’s Wax’d, but she played a dope SPY remix of Piper. I guess it made the rounds last year, but that was my first time hearing it. It sounded amazing on that sound system in the forest. I love the Jonny L remix and SPY’s version does not disappoint. She also played an Alibi remix of Kosheen’s Hide U that was new to me and it was 🔥🔥🔥! I’m aware that some of these tunes have probably been making the rounds for a minute, but you know me, I am a bit rubbish at keeping up with the latest releases, so sorry if I’m late to the party on some of these gems.
I keep trying to pick a favourite set, but I can’t. The days were so fun and it was just a blast to be in super nice weather and listening to loud dnb. I loved LSB and Workforce’s sets from the day venue. Fabio and Dom & Roland killed it. I love the cenote venue. Such a vibe. Saturday night I raaaaaaved. 😂 I definitely danced for 8+ hours. Klute absolutely smashed it. I didn’t know the majority of the tunes he played, but it all just sounded amazing and I was so here for it. Kemal and Rob Data and Ed Rush and Optical were everything you wanted it to be. I left backstage for their sets and very much appreciated brockin out with my old JVC homies that were there as well. Shouts to MC Brace and Virgo. We deffo got our proper stomp on. 🥰
All the emcees were on point. Everyone brought it! I started feeling ill on the last day, but I’m happy I got to enjoy the majority of the festival. I was sorry to hear about all the issues some festival patrons were having with cartel and police. I was with the artists since I was staying with Alicia, and we didn’t really hear about everything that was happening til way after it happened. I had a fantastic time, but I do feel that next time safety for the festival patrons should be the number one priority.
I don’t think I will go again if they have it next year. The main reason I had so much fun is because I got to hang out with Alley Cat who is a good friend and I didn’t have to deal with any bullshit. That was my second time going to Tulum, and even though it was wonderful, I don’t think Tulum is spectacular enough for me to spend money to go there a 3rd time. There are heaps more places all over Mexico that are even more fantastic and a lot less expensive.
All in all, a fab time with some great people and amazing music. 💕
I’ve spent the whole week writing thesis chapters. I know it’s old, but this Workforce remix has matched my temperament for the past couple of days. Such a great tune.
I met Alley Cat about 12 years ago or so. I had heard of her in her SF days and always thought she was such a bad ass. She came to dj in Chicago when I lived there and we became homies. She’s an awesome multi-hyphenate helping to do amazing things for women in music, and you can read all about herhere.
I’m glad she posted the SoundCloud link to this mix cuz she did recently so I can share it with you.
If you like me enough to hang out with me this weekend you are in luck. 😉 I’ll be slinging beer during Do Division at Smallbar tomorrow day. Then at night I’ll be mixing a UK Garage set at Rodan and then mixing some dnb at Droopy’s night at Exit on sunday. Busy weekend! Should be fun.
Alley Cat – Kokeshi Podkast 5 “This podkast is inspired by cinema / films / soundtracks.. I was hunting around for some samples for some of my tunes, and I came across this amazing Mashed in Plastic compilation /mashup with david lynch film and tv scores, dialogue from the films, and music. It’s amazing..I borrowed the intro which is in the podkast. Also having listened to ASC’s forthcoming album, Irrelevants tunes, and using many film samples for my own music..it really makes me think about how important music is to film and tv and vice versa. What makes me cry when I watch a scene in a film?….its not just the action but its also the film score. So this is my little tribute to all the music that brings what we watch come to life. And all the film quotes and music that inspire modern bass music. So for today this is the soundtrack to my life. I hope you like it. — AC

I think I’ve told you before that I heart Kylie. Locomotion wasn’t necessarily one of my fave track of hers but it serves the purpose for today’s entry title. 😉 Pop music ftw!
I’ve been up and at ’em since 4am. It’s strange enough to go to the gym at 5am but 4:30? I don’t think I’ll do that again. It’s way too early. LOL.
Nothing profound to tell you today. Just trudging along doing what I do.
Today’s Oldie: DBridge & Vegas – True Romance – Metalheadz 2004
Not that old but utterly brilliant. Love this tune. You can get some serious headnodding going to this one.
