It’s weird that now the World Cup is over it’s almost like it never happened.  LOL.  I spent a whole month pretty much working every day at Smallbar and now I’m just back to what I was doing before.  It’s almost like when you go on a tropical holiday and you’re completely consumed by the beach and then you come back to your regular life and you’re not really able to hold on to what was going on while you away because it’s so drastically different from what you were doing before you left.  *shrugs*

Sam gets here today.  Woot.

I will admit that I haven’t been listening to a lot of the mixes I’ve downloaded lately.  I’m trying to reload my whole itunes library and so I’ve kinda been immersed in all those cds that I own.  I’ve got some good stuff. 🙂

So World Cup final is this weekend.  I go back to my regular life of being unemployed and just working at Smallbar once a week.  I’m kinda happy for it to be over.  I’m ready to move on to new adventures in my life.

Did I tell you I was going back to school?  I don’t remember.  I try and limit the stuff I write here cuz I know not everybody is that interested in my life.  LOL.  I used to have another blog many years ago on Livejournal and after 8 years of writing in it I decided that there was way too much information about my deep thoughts that people could care less about so I created this dnb one where I write mini paragraphs instead of pages upon pages about my inner dialogue.

Anyways I’m going back to school.  I’m applying for January semester.  I guess I need to use this time to find another job so I can afford my life while in school.  I’m okay with looking for more bar jobs cuz they are easy jobs to have while being a student.  Now that I have a new focus, the salaried/benefit job isn’t necessarily my main goal anymore, school is.   So I have no qualms about going back to service industry for 2 years until I finish my program and then take it from there.  Woot.

I just loaded new mixes on my ipod and haven’t listened to them yet so I don’t really have any new tunes for you.  Look on the bright side though, next week I’ll be back to writing every day since World Cup will be over. 🙂

I’m djing at an art show that my friend Allie is putting on with her friends.  I’ll be mixing an hour of UK Garage and an hour of dnb.  If you’re in Chi come check it out.

I had a pretty fun holiday weekend.  Me and Daniela kept each other company and it ended up being really nice even though our hood was really a ghost town.

Packed weekend  coming up.  I’m mixing at an art show on friday (will post details on that as we get closer), our friends John and Journy have their wedding reception, my niece’s baptism and of course World Cup final.  I get to see my family this weekend which is always awesome.

Mix recaps…  I love that Asides Knowledge Promo Mix.  Asides has been killing.  I know that mix was a while ago (a while in mixland anyways) but I haven’t changed the mixes on my ipod in a minute.  Awesome tunes, awesome mixing per usual.  Wouldn’t expect anything less from Mr. Cambridge. 🙂

Days Off Kiki

I have 3 days off in a row.  Woot.  Yesterday was a me day.  I didn’t write, I just pampered myself and took care of my allergies and just chilled the fuck out.  Today I’ve been running non stop errands.  One of those errands you’ll be happy to know is picking up my new computer.  Holla.  I’m happy that I have that old one as a back but damn is it slow.  Anyways no use dwelling in the past.  I have a brand new laptop and I get to be back in internet land again. Yay.

10 more days and World Cup is over.  I’ll be both happy and sad.  I’ll miss my new World Cup buddies and being able to watch football pretty much everyday.  I won’t miss the nonstop working.  People need to have a break every once in a while.  It’s not good to go on 9 day, 8 day, 6 day working streaks.  It tires a person out.

My allergies are clearing up.  I finally gave in and bought the Claritin D.  I knew I needed to take it but I just feel so hopped up when I do.  It’s too strong.  Whatever.  I was so miserable that I just decided being hopped up for a couple of days wouldn’t be better than how horrible I’ve felt for the past 5 days.

I’ve been listening to so many mixes and have heard so many new tunes that I can’t even keep up.  I hope I remember them all.  It’s times like this that I miss my desk at my old job cuz I could always refer to my trusty chicken scratch post its.  I just keep having to make a mental note as I’m listening to a mix while working out or while walking to work.  Sometimes I remember…. most of the time I don’t. 🙂

It’s July 4th this weekend.  I have no plans.  I’ve noticed that lately as the years pass, I keep doing less and less on this holiday.  For some reason I seem to get left behind and my friends all go out of town.  LOL.  I’ll be working at night on the 4th but if anyone knows of any bbq’s during the day lemme know.  I will gladly come eat your hamburgers.  😉

Oh and btw, if you didn’t listen to that Dj Fu mix, you’re missing out.  Really good stuff.

Even though Juju tried to hate on me, I didn’t forget you.  (<3 you Juju)  I have been in World Cup mania at work.  It’s actually kind of fun but at the same time everything is a blur.  I am so excited to have today off.  I don’t get to relax or anything.  I’m basically using this day to do all the things that I haven’t gotten to do in the past week.  Did you see that Italy match yesterday?  Awesome.  Buh bye Italy!  I’m so excited to get into some more good football watching.  This weekend’s games are going to be wicked too.  Meh I sound like a nerd.  Lets move on to some dnb.

My buddy Stunna is having a show this weekend.  You can see me, Grand Marquee, Alfonz De La Mota, Midway and Place 42 play at an all dnb gig this saturday June 26.  Yes I repeat Chicago another all dnb gig.  I know these are so few and far between that we’ve forgotten what they are but I’m so excited to hang out with my friends, play some music and listen to some dnb.  I miss that so much.  If you’re in Chi please come and hang out with us.  It’s going to be lovely. 🙂

I’ve been listening to some awesome mixes at the gym and on my walks to work.  Thank god for Bassdrive.  I don’t have as much time to search for new mixes so I just download an archive and I’m good to go.  Lots of good tunes out as usual.  I’ve been hearing some pretty wicked darker/rowdier ones that I’ve been digging…  Yes you heard correctly,  Liquid Funk Kiki is digging more and more rowdy tunes. *shrugs*  What can I say, I’m not laying around my flat pondering my life as much anymore so a rowdy tune here and there while on the go definitely gets me excited.  😉

I hope I get a chance to write again soon but I can’t guarantee it.  I have a long stretch coming up with no days off again for a minute.  We’ll see.

The days of the USA games I have to go in at 530am.  I know that I wake up at the crack of dawn anyways but I don’t ever really do anything too exciting at those times.  I go to the gym or watch tv.  Having to work that early in the morning is not really that cool.  The USA games are fun though and it’s good money so I’ll grin and bear it. 🙂

One thing I love about the service industry is the difference in start times.  It’s nice to not always have to be at work at 8 or 9am.  Today I don’t have to work til 12 so I’m enjoying the morning to do odds and ends.
