Krazy Kiki

I’m a little late on the posting today. I actually have been working diligently for the past 5 and 1/2 hours. No internet, no iming, no reading blogs. Just straight up work. It’s amazing what you can get done when you don’t procrastinate.

Yesterday, when I got home I kept being like “ooh I should have wrote about this track” but of course stupid me didn’t write them down and I can’t even remember what the hell I was thinking about cuz my mind is totally blank. Weird. Well maybe not weird, cuz I find it hard to focus on things for too long anyways, so lets just say… annoying.

I went to Lava last night and I actually had a good time. Jujitsu Jellybean was there and so was Stunna. I hadn’t been there in a while so it was nice to hang out with my peeps. Nameloc played last night and he had a really nice set. He played the Perculator Dubstep Refix by Jaybird. Love it! It’s just a dirty and nasty tune. Future Prophet and BRC threw down too and I loved it as well.  I even remember dancing slightly.  Stop the presses!  Old lady on the dance floor.

I think I was really in the mood for a night out with good music. I got to hear that LynxDistance Zero on a loud system and I love it even more.  I’ve been listening to it in my headphones for the past month and sometimes it’s just nice to hear shit out loud in an open space.  I also heard some Zyon Base tune I was into, don’t know the name.  I was complaining to Stunna that I’ve been hearing a bunch of Zyon Base stuff that I really like but whenever I search for his stuff online I only come across the tracks I’m not overly chuffed about.  Go figure.

I guess I’ll have to start trainspotting more than I already do.  There’s not point in having a blog where I write about the latest tracks that I like if I don’t know the names of any of them is there?  I will say though,  I’m a bit sad that I’ve somehow turned into the annoying girl that asks for track names all the time. I’m definitely keep the question asking to a minimum from now on.  I’ll only ask the people that know that I’m being annoying by asking for the track name of every single fucking dnb track ever made but still manage to love me just the same. 😉

I’m feeling a bit out of sorts and I’m not quite sure why. Maybe I just need to have a good lie down or something.

Can you believe it’s Friday already tomorrow?

Kiki The Geriatric

They claim it’s going to be 90 degrees tomorrow. We’ll see. Usually, the thing I love about Chicago summers is that it’s so ridiculously hot that everyone is like yeah I’ll meet you there, yeah I’ll go to that, cuz it’s so fucking hot you can’t stand to be in your house. Well here we are in July and that still hasn’t happened yet. Lame.

I have become a full on senior citizen. I feel like all I do is talk about the weather, (see paragraph above and numerous entries before this one for examples) try and go to bed by 10, complain about younger kids playing ding dong ditch with my buzzer (there’s a school down the street), and reminisce about when I was younger. 🙂 Doesn’ t that mean I should get to ride public transportation for cheaper??

Been having a dance party, by myself of course, ever since I played that 2step/Garage set on July 4. I’ve been listening to Shanks & Bigfoot on repeat also. *sigh* The good old days… (old lady phrase alert!)

Lets switch it up and listen to some dubstep. Rinse FM is great for that. 🙂

Back In Business

Miserable ToddlerI’ve felt like that crabby baby to the right for the past seven days. Fortunately I no longer feel that way. I’m not 100% but I at least don’t feel like I’m about to keel over and die.

All in all I had a pretty good weekend. I got all hopped up on meds and went to Bass Goes Boom on friday. Man, if you live in Chicago and you love dubstep and don’t go to this night, you’re crazy. Chef absolutely killed it. That night is really fun. It was nice to see Mike too both him and Tim threw down as well.

I finally went to the apple store and invested in a new ipod dock. Yay. I managed to get to work today with not a single person saying a word to me… just how I like it. I definitely have missed my ipod. Welcome back buddy.

Since I’ve been sick my equilibrium is all off and my hearing was all fucked up and I’ve had a really hard time mixing but I’m happy to say that my hearing has returned slightly. Not fully, but enough that I at least don’t feel like I’m sitting in a tin can. I’m playing at Lava on wednesday for the Random Movement show and it should be an interesting set to say the least.  The night will include 3 of my favourite things so it really can’t end up being that horrid, 1) My friends 2) Drum n Bass 3) Lava. 😉

Found this Doc Scott Mix. Everyone on Breaksblog seems to be raving about it so hopefully it’s enjoyable.

Music Melee

Sometimes my mind gets lost in music world and I’m not quite sure what it is that I really want to listen to. My 17 year love affair with dnb is still going strong but there are days where I don’t feel like listening to it. Also I stepped on my ipod dock and broke it and now I can’t put any new mixes on there until i go get a new one. Surprisingly I still am shocked that the ipod isn’t broken yet but the dock isn’t expensive to replace so I don’t mind paying for a new one. So basically I’ve been listening to the same mixes all week…. *shudder* “Oh the horror!”

I do know that silence isn’t one of my choices of what to listen to though. Not that I have a problem with silence, (others may beg to differ since I am that person that never shuts up) I just think that it’s nice to have music as a soundtrack to tedious activities. Since activities that one usually takes part in during the work day are usually tedious, music is a welcomed addition.

My best friend’s wife made a comment once about how I always have to have music on and I was genuinely shocked that she found it strange. I guess I never think that other people don’t automatically put music on when they have a free moment. I just assumed that’s what everybody does it since I do know that there aren’t many people who don’t like music. I don’t have any stats on that but I feel like it’s safe to make that assumption.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Roll Deep today. Don’t ask me why because I don’t have a proper answer. *shrugs* Sometimes you just have to be ruff and tuff and become a grime emcee I guess. “Celebrate That” is one of my faves. I’m actually looking forward to the Bass Goes Boom show next weekend with Chef. I haven’t been in town for the last two so it’ll be nice to make an appearance.

Anyways I guess dubstep is the genre choice for the afternoon a la Plastician and Nomad.

Dance For Me

I went to see Dizzee Rascal yesterday. 1xtra plays that Dance For Me song all the time and I love it. I’ve seen him before and I always really enjoy his shows. He’s a good live performer. I find it really strange that there are so many artists that are actually pretty bad live. It’s almost surprising when you see someone who actually puts on a good show. Other people I always think put on a great live show are The Streets and M.I.A.

EL-P was on the bill last night too. I don’t really listen to a lot of rap but I definitely like this dude’s stuff. I’ve seen him a couple of times before and he’s just an all round good rapper. It was a good show. I had fun.

Remember that Dillinja remix of Basement Jaxx feat Dizzee Rascal – Lucky Star? I really liked that one.

I’m in a dubstep mood today. I actually listen to a lot of dubstep. You know how there are some things that you just do and you don’t really blab about it that much? That’s how it is with me and dubstep. I’m a big fan of the Bass Goes Boom nights. Chef is at the next one. Should be dope.

I’ve been feeling a bit poorly this week and haven’t really been doing any work so I think I’m going to try and be a good employee today.
