I retract yesterday’s statement about hibernation.  It’s lovely outside today!  The high is supposed to be 63…  you know you’re a midwesterner when you rave about how nice the weather is even if the numbers are just in the 60s.

I’m back on a Dan Marshall kick.  I never stopped really being on it, it’s just that now that I’m unemployed I tend to forget to listen to him and Jamo’s show but when I was working I remembered to tune in all day everyday because they came on after Spinn.  I work out to their archives constantly.  Love the show.  Big up Bassdrive.

I have a couple of tunes that I’m coveting.  Unfortunately I don’t know the names and I can’t ask anyone cuz I’m on some straight up “it kinda has that one kick and then goes dun dunn dun tsch” bizness right now.  LOL.  So I’ve decided that I will just hopefully discover the names of these tracks at some point and leave it at that. 🙂

Last night’s show was awesome.  I can honestly say that the one of things I miss about Minneapolis is how small the music scene was.  Everyone pretty much knew everyone.  There wasn’t that many of us so we all dabbled in everything and you got to know everyone personally and found ways to coordinate events etc.  I djed in between many an indie band set.  I did mash up gigs with live bands.  You just kinda did whatever.  Here the city is huge and I tend to just mingle with my dnb peeps.  I don’t really know many bands and I don’t even really know any other djs that aren’t really dnb djs.  I’m sure some of it is cuz I definitely don’t go out as much as I did in Minneapolis but at the same time i also know that it would be physically impossible to get to know every dj and every band here in Chicago. 😉  Anyways it was just fun to go see Andy’s band.  The Bottom Lounge was packed and that was actually my first time going to the new location.  Good times.

I am still amazed by how busy I am for being an unemployed person.  I guess I always imagined unemployment to be a period of time where you didn’t do anything but sit on the couch and watch telly.  I guess it really is what you make of it.  Today is chockablock full for me.  If you are in Chi go see Klute at Lava tonight.  Lots of buddies playing, Lamebrane, Stunna, Submorphics and Subverb.  Should be a good night.  Also listen to that Zero T Fabric Live Promo mix, it’s dope. 🙂

Yay, summer has returned.  It’s absolutely gorgeous outside.  I already went for a nice bike ride.

Last night was really good.  I feel like I was fortunate enough to spend the whole of wednesday listening to really awesome dnb.  Will and Stunna on Bassdrive was a really great show and then at Lava everyone just had really good sets.  It’s days like those that I know why I love dnb so much.

Steppers Alliance Kiki

I used to be part of this 2step/UK Garage crew called Steppers Alliance when I lived in Minneapolis.  It was pretty awesome.  It was at the height of UK Garage’s introduction into the U.S.  On Halloween this year in Minneapolis there is a party and they are going to have a 2step/Garage stage.  They have asked Steppers Alliance to reunite and play.  They are flying me back to play which is great.  I’m pretty excited.  I think that any day where you get to hear old skool 2step/Garage out loud is dope.  🙂

4/4 (Mike) comes today.  Let the countdown to Matt Martin wedding extravaganza begin.  Woot.

So I thought that my computer was fine and then my Windows somehow got corrupted and I couldn’t do a damn thing.  Boo.  Thank god for Pipeline.  He gave my laptop new life and also pointed me in the right direction to get a new keyboard so that he can replace it for me.  Yay.  Sorry external keyboard, you will no longer be needed.  It’s always a bonus to have a friend in the geek biz.

I’m going home this weekend and awfully excited about it.  It’s going to be quite the extravaganza at the African festival.  My people like to do it big yo.  😉  Jessica and Joia are coming with me.  I just like hanging out with my mum and eating good food and that’s the best thing that Madison, Wisconsin has to offer me.  Woot.

It’s  really early.  I’ve been an early riser for as long as I can remember but still it never stops being strange that I’m awake kicking it when everyone else is completely passed out.  My gym is open 24 hours so I think I’m gonna head over there once I finish this post.

I don’t really have anything exciting to talk about this week.  It’s a pretty slow week.  I’m definitely feeling the unemployment factor right now because I’ve been working with my friend for the past couple of weeks so my idle time has been pretty much non-existent.  This week he’s out of town though and I’ve had to keep myself busy.  There are activities to do but they are activities of my own creation, so that makes the “I really have nothing to do factor” quite high.

So I must admit I’ve been pretty poorly for the past week.  My allergies manifested themselves into this horrid cold and I’ve just been surviving.  Now it’s almost all gone apart from this nasty cough.  I guess I’m not taking the right medicine cuz this ish is not going anywhere.  I bought some theraflu so hopefully that helps.

So fine, whatever, I’ve come to terms with it, I’m a full blown allergy haver and that shit is not fucking fun.  I’m a sneezing maniac, my throat hurts, my eyes itch, and my nose won’t stop running.  Is that cute?  Absolutely not.  I’ve been   trying to be a trooper and not whine but it’s 4:55 am and I can’t breathe and I’m bloody miserable.

Moving on, it is the weekend, though for an unemployed person that shouldn’t really mean that much since I kinda don’t have a schedule but it does mean that others will be able to hang out with me so at least there will be fun things to do.

It’s Juju’s bday tomorrow.  Yay.

Hello.  Yes I’m rubbish.  I didn’t mean to neglect you.  I honestly didn’t realise that the main reason I was able to write in my blog everyday was because I spent all day sitting at the computer.  I’m seriously not home long enough to come up with the time to write posts these days.  I’m going to make an attempt to do them first thing when I wake up now.

My 4th was pretty cool.  Beatchemist and some of our Bassdrive buddies were here through the 4th so I kicked it with them at Juju’s and drank ate and watched the fireworks on Juju’s street… yes I did say street.  True Chicago style people just having firework wars from block to block.  Woot.

I’m still not to stressed out about not having a job.  I’m still optimistic that the situation will sort itself out.  I think that stressing about money is really annoying so I’ve just chosen not to do it.  The thing that is making me a wee bit depressed though is not having anything to do.  I’ve become quite adept at filling up my days with activities but when you wake up at the crack of dawn like I do, it makes for a pretty long day.  I guess it’s just nice to feel useful sometimes. *shrugs*

Anyways back to dnb land.  I’ve actually been listening to a lot of stuff but just haven’t written about it.  Lets get back on track Kiki!
