So I made my top 25 of 2008. I feel like it’s a bit nonsense to do this because a) I cheated and just did it from May onwards cuz that’s when I started my blog and have detailed documentation of all the tracks I liked and b) I obsess over tracks so much there’s no way I like a track that I heard in May as much as I do one I like today cuz of the whole “playing on repeat constantly” factor. So this dodgy mash up top 25 will just have to do. 😉

I was going to try and pick a favourite for the number one spot but that is just utterly impossible for me. So here they are in no particular order whatsoever. Some I couldn’t track down mp3s for because they haven’t been released yet or whatever so I apologise for the lack of samples.

Going to Seminar tonight. It’s their 11th anniversary. Woot woot. Total Science is playing along with my buddy Submorphics. Should be a good night.

Hmmm. I can’t say I really cared for the whole Superman theme to this tune but I did kinda like the bassline. In my rave days, any rowdy bassline warranted me dancing in front of a speaker. I really wasn’t too picky. LOL. Remember when there were all these weird novelty jungle tracks that had theme songs from tv shows and shit? I’m happy that era never made a come back. I don’t actually own this record but for some reason today I was thinking about a rave I went to where everyone was going gaga over this tune and figured it wouldn’t hurt to post it as my oldie. 🙂

I was telling Stunna yesterday that I’ve totally been in a lazy funk. At first I was annoyed and stressed for a couple of weeks and now I’m just lazy. I decided to snap out of it yesterday and I’m in full form again. I went crazy listening to dnb and am back to full on post it note scrawled pieces of paper form. I have tracks to talk about and I actually went out. Holla.

It was dubstep night at Seminar. Chicago’s dubstep scene really is fire. Nameloc and Borja are on some other shit with their production. Loves it!

Tunes I’m lovin’:

Naibu – Here Now (track is in the player) It’s no secret that I heart Naibu. This track is dope.

Arje – Awakenings Really great rolling track. Heard this on Overfiend’s show. No sample but definitely check out the stuff in his player.

Future Engineers – Eden ( Method One Remix) Track is in the player.

EZ Rollers – Tough At The Top (Origin Unknown Remix) – Moving Shadow 1998 Talk about great remix. I loved the original already and then Origin Unknown came with this gritty version and it was fire. Loves it.

It’s wednesday. My mum is coming this weekend. There’s kind of a lotta things going on around me that are pretty major. We’ll see how they pan out.

Love these tunes:

Ed Oberon – Kid Rio This track is out of control. I love it. I heard it in the mix on Tyler’s show and it was fire. Check it out, it’s in the player.

Kjell – Healing Process Lovin this one. Really great bassline. I feel like Kjell’s tracks have a distinct style, not quite sure how to describe it but whatever it is I like it.

Tyler Straub – Waiting For You I had actually meant to write about this track when I heard it on Bassdrive about a month ago but I really wanted to wait til I had a sample to share with you. It has this really serene melodic vibe that is just awesome. Not only do I have a sample but it’s actually available as a free download from the Santorin site. Now that is pretty cool. 🙂

Today’s Oldie – Roni Size – Watching Windows (Ed Rush & Optical Remix) – Talking Loud 1998 All my oldie favourites seem to be by the same artists. LOL. Seriously though, I do remember from about ’95 to about ’00 I could always rely on the same labels and the same artists for my tracks. They were the ones doing the best stuff and others couldn’t even really come close. This remix is ridiculously wonderful. I love the idea of a remix. I’m always curious to see what someone else would do with a track. The Ed Rush and Optical spin is just lovely. Classic track.

This mix should be fire.
