It’s my bday on Thursday. 48. I don’t even care about the age itself, I’m just shocked that it seems to have gone by so fast!

I don’t have a mix to post. I’ve been listening to a lot of oldies. Like old oldies. I was mixing early ’90s era jungle yesterday and all those tracks had me thinking about being a young raver and how geeked I always was to go stand in front of the speaker at the weekend.

I won’t talk about school for long cuz that’s all I talk about these days.  Basically this semester is really hard and I’m trapped in a study/work cycle.  Boo.

Looking forward to seeing LTJ on the 16th and SPY on the 22nd.  I have to plan my let loose days way way way in advance.  LOL.

I’ll post more deets on those two shows as we get closer to the event dates.

Been waiting for a sample of this for ages now.  I know it’s just a podcast rip but you can hear it nonetheless.  I heard it on a Marky mix a while back and just loved it.  I can’t wait to hear it on a loud sound system.  Some serious bass there.

So good!  I love tunes like this.  I actually really like all the songs on his Everybody Knows EP.  Nice one.

I’m trying to make myself sound like I haven’t been neglecting you.  LOL.  I have thought about writing an entry so many times this month and then life has distracted me and all of a sudden it’s July 26… Dang.

Anyways, better late than never right?

July went by so quick.  There’s only 4 more classes of this second summer session class I’m taking left.  How did that happen?  I swear the class  just started.

I feel like we were complaining about summer taking it’s sweet time and then all of a sudden it just got here and was in full effect.  Lovin it.  I always love Chicago in the summer time.  I say that like it’s over, there’s still more of it left so I’m going to enjoy it while I can.

I feel like I keep repeating myself when I say that there are so many good tunes out but seriously it’s no joke.  A new dnb night has started and I’m looking forward to having a little dance party on a loud ass soundsystem (more details as the date approaches).  I will tell you that Calculon is coming for the August 11th edition though.  Woot.

So so so sick. I posted the remix so I reckon I have to post the original too.  I used to have such a Krome & Time obsession back in my early rave days.  Ganja Man is still one of my ultimate fave tunes, especially the Hype remix because it is so ridiculously awesome.

You can’t really go wrong with Makoto can you??  I feel bad cuz I don’t post that much and whenever I do I post a plethera of Random Movement mixes.  LOL.  I am aware of the fact that not everyone loves to listen to RM as much as I do, so I figured no one would mind if we did a little switch to Makoto.  Enjoy. 🙂

Had a lovely time at home with my mum and Nima.  I think it’s funny that every time I go home my mum has me do some chore.  I don’t really complain cuz she lives in that huge house by herself and can’t do everything.  The humour is just in the fact that I live a regular adult life when I’m not by my mum and then the second I get home it’s… “Can you help me rake the leaves today?”  LOL

My car stereo is broken.  This is not ok.  I hate the radio.  All the radio stations are rubbish.  I need to find someone to fix it for me.

Before I post my regular dnb stuff, I just want to give Eyedea a shout out.  I lived in Minneapolis for 8 years.  I was very much a part of the music scene there.  At that time that I was there everyone was friends with everyone and collaborated to throw events and what not.  I participated in and frequented many Rhymesayers events.  I wasn’t really good friends with him or anything like that but we had many encounters and he was a really lovely person.  He was extremely talented and will definitely be missed.

Girls Rock Kiki

I’m actually pretty excited today.  I’ll be teaching a workshop to some young girls at this camp.  The program is called Girls Rock! Chicago.  I think this is so cool.  I would have been so ecstatic if this was available when I was younger.  This is the first year that they are adding a Dj workshop to the music camp.  I’m extremely grateful that I get to be part of it.

I’ve been loving this tune for a minute.  I’m not as crazy about the dnb version but this version is definitely fire.  Nice club/party banger. ❤

It’s weird that now the World Cup is over it’s almost like it never happened.  LOL.  I spent a whole month pretty much working every day at Smallbar and now I’m just back to what I was doing before.  It’s almost like when you go on a tropical holiday and you’re completely consumed by the beach and then you come back to your regular life and you’re not really able to hold on to what was going on while you away because it’s so drastically different from what you were doing before you left.  *shrugs*

Sam gets here today.  Woot.

I will admit that I haven’t been listening to a lot of the mixes I’ve downloaded lately.  I’m trying to reload my whole itunes library and so I’ve kinda been immersed in all those cds that I own.  I’ve got some good stuff. 🙂

I was mixing my 2step jams yesterday and I actually started to get excited for my set on saturday.  Mike was sitting playing on the internets while I was mixing and we both agreed that garage is straight up party music.  Who wouldn’t love to hear booming bass and r&b remixes when you go to a party?  It’s definitely not “sitting around the house” music.  I’m going to take loads of pics.  This thing is definitely going to be interesting. 🙂

In more news, Ashland Ave is most certainly the bane of my existence.  They started construction at 7am this morning.  That’s just rude.  Boo.
