Man, when you sit at the computer for 8 hours a day you really do lead a completely different life.  I’m finding it quite odd adjusting to these new activities that seem to have made their way into my daily schedule.  I had become quite adjusted to  immersing myself in the internet realm.  Am I anxious to get back to it?  I honestly couldn’t tell you.

I think it is harder for me to be all up in the dnb biz as I’m not endlessly searching for mixes and new artists.  Today is the first day I have downloaded new mixes in like 5 days which is a far cry from the 4 to 5 a day I was downloading and listening to while at work.

I’m discussing this as if it’s something of great importance.  LOL.  I was just thinking about it while I was adding some new mixes to my ipod and decided to share my thoughts.  Obviously this is just babble and of no use to anyone but at least I’ve gotten the thought out of my brain. 😉

Oh man.  I can’t breathe.  I just started getting allergies about 2 or 3 years ago.  It still feels pretty new to me and I can tell you I don’t like it one bit.

I am so excited for this 3 day weekend.  I actually have a lot of activities planned so it should be fun.

I have had “Melanie” (Alix Perez) stuck in my brain for the past 3 days.  It has a really pretty melody so I guess it’s not a bad track to have playing on repeat in your head.

Have a nice holiday weekend if you’re on this side of the pond.

I listened to these tracks and even though a lot of people aren’t liking it too much, I dig it.  I think the tracks are pretty solid.  Why don’t they have a myspace?  Why is this album so badly promoted? *shrugs*

Boo.  I totally missed out on that Commix mix.  I meant to download it yesterday but never got around to it and then they took the link down.  Gotta be quick, I guess.

It’s Friday.  Holla.  I remember when my coworker at Adidas got a regular 9 to 5, he said to me that the weekends don’t get old and he’s totally right.  After working retail/restaurant jobs for 13 odd years, the thought of never having to work on a Saturday or Sunday is still the most exciting thing ever and I’ve been working at my regular 9 to 5 for a year. 😉

I decided to do a double whammy on the oldies tip today.  I really wanted to just put the whole Showdown EP.  The Undiluted posse brings back so many interesting memories of old rave days in Minneapolis .  I remember Kane and the lot and our excursions to the Mall of America as well as rescuing them from a motel that another promoter had put them in that was hella ghetto.  They swore they heard gunshots and seeing as the motel was located on Franklin Ave., I wouldn’t be surprised.  Oh the good old Jungle Vibe Collective rave days.

I don’t really have much to babble about these days.

I feel like maybe I’m way to scatterbrained about getting ready to jet outta town.

I’m running around like Taz, that’s his name right? I’m prone to accidentally deciding things are a certain way so I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m wrong and I’m also too lazy to look it up. Basically I keep whirring from place to place and spouting random nonsense. LOL.

I can’t believe how excited I am to see my family. They are dope.

There’s a couple of tracks I’ve really wanted to write about but I don’t have samples and I know that’s annoying but today I’m going to write about them anyways.

Random Movement – RM is killing it these days. Seriously. My fave song right now is Used Illusions. I’ve been coveting it for a couple of weeks and I hear it all the time on Bassdrive. So so so good. Tune in, I’m sure someone will play it or better yet check out his show, wednesdays 5 – 7pm cst. Also Smooth Transitions is fresh and I’m loving Revealed.

Style Control – Devil’s Wind Dope. Love it. Will Miles and Kjell. Nice duo. Check out other tracks in their player.

I figured this would be a fitting oldie. I can’t remember if I wrote about this already, I’m sure I did, but whatever, anyways, in my mother’s Sierra Leone culture we celebrate every 5 years after someone dies. My stepfather died around xmas 5 years ago so there’s a huge ceremony this year. I’m kinda into this idea of remembering a loved one cuz it’s not morbid at all. We have a ceremony where everyone tells their favourite stories about the person that has past and then there’s a huge party. It’s pretty fun. Classic dnb tune. Going out to my stepdad.

It was snowing this morning. It didn’t look like the pic above but it would have been nice if it had.

This weekend was lovely. It was all about me, me, me time. I listened to a ton of music. Cleaned my place. Made an attempt to organize my records. (a rubbish attempt at that) Wrote for a while. I’m not one of those people that doesn’t like to be alone. I definitely relish in it. I love having time to focus on what’s going on in my life and reflect on how to make myself a better person. Woh, we’re getting too deep here, lets talk about music. 😛

I had 3 mixes on heavy, heavy rotation this weekend. Really good listening. Zero T D&B TV Mix, Stunna Rubiks Podcast and the SpectraSoul Kongkast #55. On the SpectraSoul mix there is this really awesome track towards the end that’s one of their dubs called In Profile. ❤

This is probably my favourite track right now. I heard it a while ago and have been waiting to find some kind of sample to share with you but unfortunately there is none or I should just say I couldn’t find one. I pretty much stay tuned to Bassdrive hoping someone will play it. LOL. Old school style. I was totally that kid that used to do that. Just keep the radio on hoping I would hear them play the songs that I liked. (i don’t even listen to regular radio anymore so I guess I’m showing my age since radio today only rotates about 10 songs total) I’ve heard it on Dj Presha’s show and Random Movement played it last week. Sexy tune. Just sultry and melodic. I love it. Keep your ears peeled people.

Today’s Oldie: Pieter K – Rapport – Offshore Recordings 2003
When I first started listening to Offshore, I was fortunate enough to be given the first 6 or so releases all at once. This Pieter K was the one I listened to non stop. Awesome track. I’ve been having a hard time tracking down mp3s today. Finally found one on Chemical. It’s track c.

BBS Bookings has an awesome podcast. You should subscribe to it on itunes. Just search for BBS Bookings and it should come up. They are currently on #9. It features Radiata with Entro MC. Recently on BBP we had this “discussion” about emcees. I love Entro. He totally understands the art of when to be quiet to enjoy the track and when to hype up the dj and the crowd. There’s a lot of emcees that follow that path and that’s great. Unfortunately there’s a lot that don’t do that at all. I’m not gonna harp on this topic. In a nutshell… SHUT UP, I can’t hear the track. 😉
