Selamat Tinggal Chicago, <3 Kiki

That’s how you say goodbye in Indonesian.  My Chicago days are ending.  8 more days and I blow this popsicle stand.  I’m both excited and sad.  I love Chicago to pieces.  I’ve enjoyed every minute of the past 11 years that I have lived here.  

I’m going to Indonesia to teach for the summer.  I have never been to Indonesia before and I’m really looking forward to it.  I plan on starting a tumblr when I get there.  

I honestly don’t know what to do with this blog.  I think it’s definitely time to hang up my hat.  I still look for dnb mixes and tracks every day but I guess my adult life has gotten in the way and I don’t have time to blog about it and share my internet dnb traipsing with you anymore.  It’s something I do really quickly before I leave the house so I can have something to listen to on my ipod at the gym or something to listen to as I do my homework.  Deleting seems so final though and that’s why I’m hesitant.

On another note, today is my blog’s bday. 🙂

Hi.  Countdown to Bye Bye Chicago has officially began.  I’ve got 8 weeks to finish my thesis, somehow pass my last 3 classes, and not die of sleep deprivation.  I see no one unless you work at my job.  It’s all worth it, I’m sure, but for now I’m pretty much consistently on the verge of a nervous breakdown.  LOL.

I was awake freaking out one night and was so happy to find that Fabric had posted Calibre’s mix.  It was like I took a valium and had 30 minutes of reprieve.  LMAO.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Happy holidays everyone! 🙂  I’m chillin’ in New Jersey with the fam.  Hope everyone is having a good time.  Still truckin’.  Trying to enjoy my last days of freedom before next semester starts.  Got a couple of gigs coming up in January so I will def. keep you posted.

Oh man.  My life is kinda hectic.  I wish I was as calm as that headless chicken in that pic above.  I just chose this pic cuz I thought it was funny. The chaos is the result of all good changes happening but I’m just a bit pressed for time so it’s a wee bit stressful.  I’ll fill you in later. 😉

I have been on an old skool jungle kick all day.  I went to Internet Rave Archive and just listened to mixtape after mixtape.  It was a good afternoon.  Great homework music. 🙂

I don’t really have any tunes to highlight today.  I’ve been listening to a lot of mixes but nothing has really been standing out to me.  I can tell you though that I’ve developed a mayjaaah obsession with Roy Green & Protone.  Really digging their stuff.

Hello!

School started once again.  This is my last year.  May will be here before you know it and I will have my masters!  Woot woot.  I’m excited for the next chapter of my life to begin.

There’s a lot of things going on with me these days but I actually don’t really feel like writing about it.  All good things so don’t worry.  Today I just got the urge to find the time to post some tunes I’ve been hearing and liked so let’s get on with it. 🙂

I heard this and was speechless when Danny LO told me it was a Ram record.  I honestly can’t tell you the last time I bought anything on Ram.  It’s definitely been a minute.  Quality tune.  I just picked it up the other day.

Dj Chap – Don’t Wait For Me – Liquid V
I have had an obsession with Dj Chap ever since I heard “invisible” on a Random Movement podcast.  Love his productions.

Today’s Oldie:
Chase & Status – Take Me Away – Ram Records 2008
I was curious when the last time was that I had actually bought something on Ram so I looked up their discography and voila it was this Chase and Status tune.  LOL.  A tune I was ridiculously obsessed with.  I remember sitting at my law office job tuned in to Bassdrive for hours on end and being mighty pleased every time I would hear it played.

I don’t have access to be my chicken scratch memo pad notes on what tracks I want to share cuz I’m in the computer lab at school but I did remember those two tracks for now and since I haven’t written in a bajillion years I figured this post would be a good start.  I think that I might have more time to post this semester because I’m relieving myself of the burden of having to post long entries.  I always feel guilty that I go so long without posting and always want to post really long posts to make up for it.  I’m going to make an attempt to be satisfied with just posting a track here and there or a mix whenever I get a free mo so hopefully that will get me in the habit of posting more.  We’ll see.  I promise you I really will try though!

I love SirReal mixes.  They are really good workout mixes to zone out to on the treadmill.

I haven’t updated since January?  Ooh I’m horrid.

I feel like I don’t remember what it’s like to have free time anymore.

I was excited cuz I’m only taking one class this summer, which means I’ll actually get a summer holiday this year.  Didn’t get one last year but I survived.  I signed up to take the class at the end of the summer so I could start my summer holiday now since school just finished and then they switched the class to the beginning of the summer.  Can you say gutted?  I was so devastated when I found out. 😦  Now I just have to buck up and wait til July as school starts again in two weeks now.  I still get a summer holiday but I just have to wait 2 more months.  I’m dealing.  I did get a good sulk in though.

I’m in London right now.  Came to see the fam.  So at least I get a mini break.  I just really wanted to have more than 2 weeks off as I am completely burnt the fuck out.

It also happens to be my blog’s bday today.  I know I never have time to write in it but I’m still gonna acknowledge its bday.  I decided not to delete it and will just post whenever some magical free time comes my way.  I thought I would have more free time to write while I was here but my cousin just passed away two days ago and I’ve been doing family stuff.  R.I.P. Anthony.

Hope all is well in your brocktastic land,  I’m busy but alive and still getting my dnb fix when I can.

Do you hate me?  Please don’t.  The blatant neglect is not intentional I swear!  I want to say that I will just get rid of this blog all together but then there are random days like today where I actually have a free mo and decide to write.  I think I just feel guilty that there was a time almost 4 years ago that I was able to write about my dnb obsession every day and then all of a sudden I got all grownz up and am too busy to chat incessantly about my love for it. 😦

Enough with the emo confessions.  HAPPY NEW YEAR!  🙂  Sorry I didn’t do a top tunes list for last year but I really don’t have as much of a tally of tunes as I used to seeing as  I don’t write every day anymore and therefore didn’t have enough data to make a proper list.

School has started again.  It’s busy and it’s hard but i’m not as unprepared for how hard these classes I’m taking are as I was last semester so I’m not depressed and I’m ready to take this semester head on.  Woot!

I have been listening to so many mixes as usual.  It’s so easy to live in a blissful dnb cloud these days as we have access to so many mixes and so many radio stations.  Gotta love it.
