Well, it’s not really the end of me, more like Le Fin D’ete.  The end of summer is in full effect.  It’s getting darker quicker, everyone is back in school, Halloween is almost here etc.  I’m bummed but not too bummed I guess cuz my autumn is looking pretty lovely.  I’ve got numerous trips planned that will not be affected by my lack of employment and that is always exciting.  I am just not that excited about cold weather, then again who is though?

Man.  My weekend was ridiculously graffiti filled.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Lots of hanging out and just kicking it with my friends.  The Ironlak US team was here to do a legal wall and it came out pretty amazing.  George is part of the team and Jeremy works for Ironlak so I was definitely Ironlak til I die this weekend.  LOL.  I won’t post pics, I’ll just wait til they are done with the video and post it then cuz it’ll be way cooler than my rinky dink photos.  Fun times with my friends for sure.  That’s all I usually ask for. 😉

2 of my best friends are coming today.  As I’ve said before, I have a really tight knit circle of friends.  They are all my buddies from Minneapolis, we’ve been friends for about 13 or so years.  We are all scattered about now and only a few remain in Minneapolis but we are really good about planning holidays and going to visit each other and what not.  It’s awesome whenever we get to spend time with each other.  I know that my relationship with them is what makes me a better person.  It sounds sappy and corny but when my parents moved to Bangladesh when I was younger and I was nowhere near my brothers and sisters that do live in the states, these people were my family and that’s why I gush about them constantly.  They helped me realise how awesome friendship is and what it means to be a good friend.  My weekend will be filled with lots of hanging out and yummy meals and we all know that’s all I live for these days.  LOL.

This track is so ridiculous it makes me speechless.  I remember going to raves back then and hearing this on a loud system and just seeing everyone lose their shit, me included.  So sick.  This is one record I unfortunately do not own.  I’m gonna look for a copy after I finish this post even though I think it’s blasphemous if you own a copy and dare sell it. 😉  This track is so the essence of my introduction to jungle.  Big big big ups to Shy Fx for this one.

I frequently think about how strange it is that I rave out to dnb at 5 a.m.

This morning’s gym selections were Stunna & Submorphics’ WMC mix (sorry I don’t have a link for this one) and Alegria’s Influenza mix.  I worked out to Alegria but listened to S & S in my car on the drive there.  I actually stayed in my car after I parked to listen to S & S because the mix was almost over and I wanted to hear the end, even though I’ve listened to it numerous times before.  It’s just a really good mix and I was totally in the zone.  I totally got that feeling after you would get home from a rave and it would be ass crack o clock.

I think one of my fondest memories is after one of the times I saw Andy C.  It was back in ’99.  The rave was called Mental and it was at the Roy Wilkins in St. Paul, MN.  I left the auditorium at 8 a.m. was pretty much deaf cuz the sound was insane and couldn’t have been more content to go to bed yet I was definitely on cloud nine from all the good music I had heard that night.  I’m feeling a little nostalgic this morning I guess.  😉

Might as well have another Andy C oldie right?  He’s coming to Smart Bar on the 17th.  Stunna is playing so I’ll prolly go.  To be honest though I’m more a fan of Andy C of yesteryear not necessarily of the Andy C of today. *shrugs*  This oldie is another of my faves for sure.  It was the track that I played the most on this Ram Raiders Part 3 release.  I’ve said it before, I really like the tracks that Andy C and Shimon make together.  🙂

Back 2 School Kiki

On the way back from the gym this a.m. I saw all the little kiddies with their parents waiting for the school doors to open.  It seems so early to be getting taught anything but I guess I haven’t been in school for a while so that’s why it seems ridiculous to have to pay attention to anyone talking to me at 7:30 a.m.  I actually am one of those people that really likes school.  If I could sort it out I would definitely go back and get my masters.

Did you guys listen to that Stanza mix I posted?  I’ve been listening to it for the past couple of days.  Good ish.  It’s been on steady treadmill rotation.  Woot.

Love this one too. I really dig the melody. You could get a serious head nod going  to it, kinda like in About A Boy when the main character Marcus closes his eyes when he’s singing and Hugh Grant gets annoyed.  😉   I could imagine myself lying on a blanket in the park reading a book with this as my soundtrack. Why do all of my images consist of me daydreaming lazily??? LOL.

Old Lady Kiki

I keep trying to come up with more ways to say that I’m geriatric.  There’s not really that many ways!  My weekend was filled with good food, good friends and lot of napping/lazing around the apartment.

Friday I went to lunch with Jesus and Shannon at this really cute place in Lincoln Square.  Really good food.  Friday night… I really did have good intentions.   I was going to gallivant across town and once my eyes started closing I admitted defeat and told my friends I would be staying home.  I think my disappointment is not actually with becoming geriatric, it’s the lack of disappointment with the transformation.  LOL.  I don’t mind staying home!  If you told me all I could do for the rest of my life starting today was to be surrounded by the company of my friends and eat amazing meals I wouldn’t even care.  I guess I didn’t think I would be hanging up my hat at 33.  And yes I’m aware that my bday is still 4 weeks away but I’m already 33 as far as I’m concerned.

I could continue with the rest of the weekend but it’s kind of the same deal so I’ll just do a quick summary.  Saturday, brunch with Ron and Rocko, loads of yummy breakfast items, good company, Small Bar with my dnb peeps, good beer, kicking it with Melissa.  Sunday, I stuffed my face at Daniela’s parents’ house to the point of feeling sick.  I couldn’t help it.  It was just too yummy.

Anyways, here we are, it’s Monday and surprisingly it seemed like everyone did most of their bbqing over the weekend.  The highlight of my Monday is Pipeline coming to fix my laptop keyboard so I don’t have to use the external one anymore.  Woot.  Hopefully all you people that actually work will enjoy your day off. 😉

Yay, summer has returned.  It’s absolutely gorgeous outside.  I already went for a nice bike ride.

Last night was really good.  I feel like I was fortunate enough to spend the whole of wednesday listening to really awesome dnb.  Will and Stunna on Bassdrive was a really great show and then at Lava everyone just had really good sets.  It’s days like those that I know why I love dnb so much.

Well I’m being a little more dramatic than necessary.  Someone did steal my card number but just used it to upgrade their yahoo mail account.  Nothing else.  There’s no pending charges so I guess I was lucky.  I needed a new card anyways so now I can kill two birds with one stone and get a new card and a new number.  I don’t really carry purses.  I’m more of a back pocket kinda girl so my id and my card are usually bent or broken in a short amount of time.

Matt Martin’s wedding was lovely.  Him and Leeann were so cute.  Good times.  I feel like I did a bunch of extended hanging out this weekend.  Mike is a perpetual gallivanter so usually when he’s here there are a lot of activities involved.  I didn’t partake in all of them cuz my finances don’t allow that kind of behaviour but I did go eat at Mana yesterday with him and the rest of the crew for dinner.  Yum.  So good.  A vegan/vegeterian’s dream.  Good cocktails too.

All in all a nice weekend.

Friday has showed up yet again… why does she keep doing that?  Is this how unemployment is the whole time you’re on it?  The days just blurr together?  Seems like it to me.  🙂

Matt Martin’s wedding is tomorrow.  There is definite fun to be had.  It’s amazing that as many weddings as I go to as I get older I still have no desire to get married.  I just don’t see it happening.  I’m never like “oh I want that.”  My aversion must be uber strong with the amount of weddings I’ve been to in the past 2 years and still haven’t changed my mind.  LOL.  Diamonds are nice though. 😉

I really love this record.  I’m pretty sure that one of the reasons is because it samples one of my fave Daft Punk songs High Life.  It’s just kind of a happy track. ❤

I never got around to listening to the other mix of his that was floating around but this tracklist looks good so it’s worth a shot.
