Boo.  I totally missed out on that Commix mix.  I meant to download it yesterday but never got around to it and then they took the link down.  Gotta be quick, I guess.

It’s Friday.  Holla.  I remember when my coworker at Adidas got a regular 9 to 5, he said to me that the weekends don’t get old and he’s totally right.  After working retail/restaurant jobs for 13 odd years, the thought of never having to work on a Saturday or Sunday is still the most exciting thing ever and I’ve been working at my regular 9 to 5 for a year. ;)

I decided to do a double whammy on the oldies tip today.  I really wanted to just put the whole Showdown EP.  The Undiluted posse brings back so many interesting memories of old rave days in Minneapolis .  I remember Kane and the lot and our excursions to the Mall of America as well as rescuing them from a motel that another promoter had put them in that was hella ghetto.  They swore they heard gunshots and seeing as the motel was located on Franklin Ave., I wouldn’t be surprised.  Oh the good old Jungle Vibe Collective rave days.

Waiting For Kiki

I’m going to Mexico next week for my best friend’s wedding.  I feel like all I’m doing these days is just waiting to leave.  The weather is whatever, work is whatever, going out is whatever.  I’m not in a bad mood about it or anything, I just want to lie on a beach and drink the beautiful cocktails that I love to daydream about and soak up the sun as soon as possible.  7 days and counting.  Holla.

Wild Out Wednesday

Well not really, I definitely wouldn’t classify myself as a person who “wilds out.” I’ve just always thought that phrase was funny. The hosts on 106th & Park always sound so amped when they talk about it “What up, what up what up, it’s WILD OUT WEDNESDAY!!!”

I will however be “wildin’ out” to Mutt today though. I feel like my whole day will be Mutt related. LOL. First, he’s playing Bassdrive from 2pm to 5pm cst for a special Greenroom session with Stunna, and Sinistarr so definitely tune in. Then he’s also playing at Seminar tonight.

Where Oh Where Has My Record Gone?

I have a lot of dnb records.  I’ve been buying them since 1994.  Needless to say sometimes if I can’t find a record it just stays missing for a long period of time.  LOL.  It’s even worse now because I don’t have my whole collection at my apartment, some is at my mum’s etc.  Everything from about 1999 onwards is pretty much at my place though.

I remember a couple of years ago I lost my Martyn – Nxt 2 U.  I went through all my records and it was just missing.  When I used to play out a lot, I could at least entertain the notion that I might have lost it at a gig but I don’t really play out anymore so if I lose a record it HAS to be in my place!!  I remember Stunna helped me look and we just didn’t see it.  All the other Martyn records were there but no Nxt 2 U.  I found it a year later.  Just sitting on the shelf, peacefully, untouched and dust bunnied.

Why am I telling you this story?  Today’s oldie is a Bad Company record that I’ve been thinking about buying again because I was convinced it was lost.  It was one of my favourites on this one Virus double pack.  I seriously have been looking for that record since I moved to Chicago back in ’02.  I was convinced that I had lost it in the move from Minneapolis.  When I was at Gramaphone on Saturday I saw a used copy and almost bought it but decided I’d have one more look through my shit.  I went to go mix at Reisha’s yesterday and went through all my Virus stuff and the record was just there, just hanging out.  Where do they hide??? :)

Friday = Fabulosity

I’m having a pretty great morning so that makes it even more exciting that it’s friday.  It’s stopped being freezing and it’s kinda warm outside, which is also lovely… You know you’re a Midwesterner when you think its warm when it’s still only 30 degrees.

Jetset Kiki

I don’t mind the cold as much when there’s good tv to watch.  Flight of The Conchords season 2 just started and Bret, Jemaine and Murray are back to their old tricks.  Murray is definitely my favourite.  This show is hilarious.  Lovesit!

Small Bar was fun last night.  I got tired real quick though.  I feel like I’ve been running around a lot lately.  I keep saying I will just chill at the house but it doesnt actually end up happening.  I’ll work on it.  :)

I had a really productive weekend.  I was quite proud of myself.

I heard this on Sinistarr’s mix for BBS Bookings.  I haven’t really been listening to many Skitty tunes since Rickets, which is amazing, but this one is dope even if it is from April of last year.  I listen to a lot of dnb but I still definitely sleep on a lot of good tunes.

(track is in Brooklyn player) We all know I’m quite obsessed with Naibu.  Love him!  Dan Marshall played it last week on his Bassdrive show and I was for sure dancing in my chair.
