I’m on the writing team for this 48 hour film contest.  I’m kinda excited.  It  should be fun.  Crazy, but fun.  We basically get told a genre, character, prop and line of text and 6pm on Friday and have to write a script, shoot the film, edit it etc and have it turned in by 6pm sunday.  We had our first meeting yesterday and it went pretty well.

There’s no reason you would know this cuz I’ve never really divulged this info but I’m an aspiring screenwriter.  I’m working on a film with my writing partner right now and I’ve also been working on my portfolio.  I’ve written a couple of pilots and spec scripts and I’m just trying to immerse myself in the scene.  I’m a newbie.  Activities like this contest are fun.

This new aimlessly wandering lifestyle I seem to have adopted is so odd.  If there’s anything anyone would say about me it’s that I’m usually a stickler for structure.

I’m still job hunting and I’m also doing some work for one of my friends as well as holding on to my current savings for dear life.  I have enough money to last me for a minute but at the same time I’m being quite stingy with my dollars.

It’s actually kinda interesting to not know what’s going on day to day.  I don’t know if I could do this on a permanent basis but for now I’m kinda enjoying it. 🙂

Man, when you sit at the computer for 8 hours a day you really do lead a completely different life.  I’m finding it quite odd adjusting to these new activities that seem to have made their way into my daily schedule.  I had become quite adjusted to  immersing myself in the internet realm.  Am I anxious to get back to it?  I honestly couldn’t tell you.

I think it is harder for me to be all up in the dnb biz as I’m not endlessly searching for mixes and new artists.  Today is the first day I have downloaded new mixes in like 5 days which is a far cry from the 4 to 5 a day I was downloading and listening to while at work.

I’m discussing this as if it’s something of great importance.  LOL.  I was just thinking about it while I was adding some new mixes to my ipod and decided to share my thoughts.  Obviously this is just babble and of no use to anyone but at least I’ve gotten the thought out of my brain. 😉

Hello.  Yes I’m rubbish.  I didn’t mean to neglect you.  I honestly didn’t realise that the main reason I was able to write in my blog everyday was because I spent all day sitting at the computer.  I’m seriously not home long enough to come up with the time to write posts these days.  I’m going to make an attempt to do them first thing when I wake up now.

My 4th was pretty cool.  Beatchemist and some of our Bassdrive buddies were here through the 4th so I kicked it with them at Juju’s and drank ate and watched the fireworks on Juju’s street… yes I did say street.  True Chicago style people just having firework wars from block to block.  Woot.

I’m still not to stressed out about not having a job.  I’m still optimistic that the situation will sort itself out.  I think that stressing about money is really annoying so I’ve just chosen not to do it.  The thing that is making me a wee bit depressed though is not having anything to do.  I’ve become quite adept at filling up my days with activities but when you wake up at the crack of dawn like I do, it makes for a pretty long day.  I guess it’s just nice to feel useful sometimes. *shrugs*

Anyways back to dnb land.  I’ve actually been listening to a lot of stuff but just haven’t written about it.  Lets get back on track Kiki!

CC has left the building, I repeat, CC has left the building.  Man, it was really awesome to have her here.  I definitely had a fun filled jam packed crazy 5 days.  Now back to my regular, boring, serious life where I have no job and have to get one ASAP.  Boo.

Shakedown is tonight with Tyler Straub.  Can you say woot?  Beatchemist is in town and Dave Owen is supposed to be coming too.  Can you say woot squared?  I have been missing in action from my drum and bass posse for almost a month.  I feel this is the perfect opportunity to make my comeback.  Woot cubed???  Ok…. definitely taking it too far.  😉

It’s strange to have nowhere to be in the morning.  I was hanging out with Reisha the other day and on numerous occasions kept thinking that I should probably go home and then finally remembered that I could probably just not go home if I wanted and it would be fine.

I’m back!  Minneapolis was really great.  I love hanging out with my peeps and the wedding was awesome.  Good times.

Summer is here.  It’s ridiculously hot.  Yesterday was 90 and I was sweating my ass off.

I’m really busy. Unemployment brings about a lot of tasks to complete, resume, employment agencies etc.  Also my place is a complete tip and my girl CC is coming so that needs to be handled ASAP!

Unemployed Kiki

So…  I lost my job yesterday.  Hmmm.  I probably should be a lot more freaked out.  I’m surprisingly not disturbed.  I got a pretty decent severance package.  My bills are paid up.  *shrugs*  I kinda don’t know what else to say.  I’m not sad.  I liked working there but definitely had no aspirations to be a Workers’ Comp  legal assistant for the rest of my life so I guess that’s why I’m not devastated or anything.  It was just a job that paid my bills and let me dick around on the internet all day.  I know the economy is still shit so that should be worrying me but I guess I’m optimistic that something will come along.

I kept saying to myself that I felt a big change coming.  There were too many big events happening in my life for something drastic not to happen.  Roomate moving out etc.  I guess I didn’t think it would be my job though, I felt it would be something more on the mental outlook front.

I don’t have any hard feelings about it.  There weren’t that many new cases coming in.  I was the last one hired so I had to be the first to go.  I am going to miss listening to Bassdrive all day though. 😉

I’m going to Minneapolis today.  I guess I’ll have more of a handle on things when I get back on Monday.

No posts Friday or Monday.  We’ll chat more Tuesday.

I’m not gonna lie.  I’m kinda frazzled.  I don’t have enough time to do anything and each day since I got back there’s like ten thousand errands to run.  On top of that my roomate moved out yesterday and my flat looks like a squatter lives there so I need to rearrange crap and clean.  All of these things = not fun.  I know it’ll all sort itself out but in the interim it’s still worrisome. :/
