Yes I’m here.  Didja miss me?  Last week was hectic.  I ended up staying home for a full week.  I got a lot of essay stuff done for my masters apps.  I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to write, but know it was cuz I was actually really busy and not just cuz I was being lazy. 🙂

Fall is upon us and it seems like my schedule keeps getting busier and busier.  I’m not complaining.  I am not a person that likes to be idle.

Last week was a good music week.  I saw Martyn in Millenium Park at the Sonar Festival which was awesome.  Falty DL and Marcel Dettmann performed at the Smart Bar after parties.  Mixed at a dnb rave.  Really good times.  Plastician is this week.  As an electronic music enthusiast, I really can’t complain much these days. 🙂

So the past couple days I’ve been in straight party mode.  That’s what summer is about I guess, right?  I’m the brokest person out there but I still manage to have my fun without actually having money to spend.  LOL.

Me and Daniela went to see Skream and 12th Planet on sunday at Green Dolphin and that party was awesome.  Rusko was still around from Lollapalooza so he and Skream tagteamed.  Really good time.

I had such a  fun time at the dubstep show that I’m gonna post a dubstep mix today instead of a dnb one. 🙂

I had a pretty fun weekend.  Went to see Kode 9 on friday and he killed it.  Flying Lotus… meh.  I left during his set cuz it sounded really bad.  Maybe they didn’t do a sound check for him or something cuz it was muddy and horrible sounding.  Kode 9 was so awesome though and I’m glad I got to see his whole set. The place was insanely packed.  I hadn’t been to a show at the Double Door in ages.  It was a glimpse into how summertime is in the Chi and I love it.  That’s the thing about living in the midwest, the winters are annoyingly depressing and the summers are amazing, so everyone pretty much spends their time just waiting for summer to show face.

Saturday was the Pendulum show.  Hmmm.  I am extremely too old to party with 18 year olds.  I knew that already.  LOL.  The show itself was good in terms of turn out and everyone was having fun.  I just have a hard time partying with young people.  I’ve accepted my geriatric status and I’m happy with it.  I like hanging out with people my own age. 🙂

Still Grey is still one of my favourite dnb tracks but the rest of the stuff Pendulum was playing is just not my alley. The kiddies love it though so I’m not going to hate.  To each his own right?

Sunday I just kicked it at home and it was so nice to relish in the quiet since the capoeira folks decided to take the weekend off with their incessant drumming.  Best Easter I’ve had yet!

All in all fun times.

So me and Daniela went to see Caspa at Smart Bar yesterday.  I like dubstep.  I don’t listen to it as much as dnb but I do enjoy the genre and all its sub categories.  Yesterday I was up for some rowdy party dubstep.  Apparently no one told me and Daniela that it was a 22 year olds only party.  LOL.  I don’t know why I keep being surprised every time I go to his shows.  He has a huge following.  He’s totally grabbed the new ravers crowd.  Me and Daniela were some of the oldest people there.  These kids love him.  Camera phones, autographs, etc.  It’s awesome.  I love watching it but at the same time it’s definitely a reminder that we are old.  It was seriously like a rave in there except we were in a club and it’s 2010.  I had fun nonetheless.  Caspa is  a good dj.  Good times.

Shit.  Unemployment is finally getting to me.  I need to get out of my house.  Lame.  Even writing about it gets me annoyed so this rant will have to end here.

I can’t stop listening to that Giant – Drumstick VIP track. Such a party wobble track.  ❤   I know I’m late on it but you know I don’t really keep up with dubstep as much as I do dnb.  That Emalkay mix is still on repeat in my car.  Loves it.  Did you know that Enei is part of Giant?  I didn’t.

I’ve been listening to everything.  Dnb, dubstep, pop, rap, whatever switches up the tempo to my boring day.  I’m currently listening to Cheryl Cole as i type this.  Yes I’m aware that i should prolly keep that piece of info to myself but I’ll never deny my love for pop music.  NEVAAAHHH. Mwahahaha.  I still even have my Bros album on vinyl.  Gimme me a break, I grew up in London, I will listen to pop music for the rest of my life.  Girls Aloud what what! 😉

I’ve had a pretty awesome week.  It’s my bday tomorrow.  I’m having a nice dinner with some friends.

The partying continues for the moment though.  It’s funny that I never go out and I’ve pretty much been out all this week.  Last night Calculon was still here so we went to Smart Bar and saw 12th Planet.  He killed it.  I was super into his set.  Smart Bar again tonight.  LTJ woot.  Submorphics is opening.  Woot squared.  I would have to give this week a 10/10… ha that also happens to be my date of birth.  Groan.  Yes I’m corny.

Last night was awesome.  I went to go see Caspa at Smart Bar.  I can’t believe how many times I’ve been to Smart Bar this month.  It’s usually a place I don’t go to too often cuz I hate driving there and I’m not really on the electronic club tip that much these days .  I’ve seen some great shows there the past month though.  Caspa was def. my favourite one.  It’s so lovely when the room is just filled with enthusiastic people who are just as excited about the music as you are.  Last night was really packed.  Whoa-B and Timid had awesome sets.  Caspa murdered it.  The crowd just ate him up.  They knew all his tracks,  freaked out at the right times, danced a ton and even sang back lyrics really loudly?  I know.  I was in awe too.  LOL.  Made for a really great night.  I didn’t even feel like I was in Chicago cuz it seemed like there was, dare I say, a healthy scene that wasn’t just house music.  I had a blast. 🙂

The record organising continues.  Thankfully I can say that I do actually see an end in sight soon.  Yay.

Brown Leaves Kiki

Wait… there’s no brown leaves on my street.  LOL.  Fall is here.  I kinda miss having a back garden sometimes.  It’s nice to witness that part of the change of the seasons.  I definitely don’t miss having to rake them up though.

This weekend was definitely the rowdiest I’ve gotten in a while… and when I say rowdy I don’t mean I got wasted and out of control cuz i don’t do that anymore.  I just stayed out real late and danced.  Geez, I’m obviously a geriatric when staying out late and dancing equals rowdiness.  😉  The Skream show was really fun.  Murderbot’s set was ridiculously awesome.  I really enjoyed it.

Klute is this week.  I always look forward to a Klute set.  He is just a really good dj.  Can’t ask for more than that.

So Chicago only comes out for big names I guess.  Andy C was packed last night and everyone was acting like they rave out to dnb on a regular basis.  It was very interesting to watch.  There was definitely a lot of rowdiness in the place.  Stunna killed it. 🙂

Going to see Skream tonight.  I like going to big dubstep shows.  They are fun.  I don’t necessary like going to Smart Bar for 2 days in a row but what’s a girl to do?
