As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve become all about making yummy dinners.  Last night Jessica came over and we made a mixed greens and bell pepper salad, pasta with a spinach and vodka sauce, home made garlic bread and angel food cake with ice cream and strawberries for dessert.  Add a glass of wine, my roomates and some horrible television and you’re pretty much set for a perfect evening.  😉  It’s so easy to cook at home and so much cheaper.  I was thinking about my college days of living on pasta roni and take out and I’m definitely glad they are gone.

old-ladies

It is amazing to me that I have naturally eased into my senior citizen status.  The funniest part is that it doesn’t even bother me anymore.  LOL.  I don’t really like to go out.  I prefer making dinners with my friends at each others houses instead of going out to the bar.  I can’t be arsed to talk to people I don’t know.  The list goes on.  I am comfortable with my new status now where as before I think I was a bit frightened by it.  I’ve had a good run.

Don’t get me wrong.  I’m not saying I’m never going out again, it was more of an observation of my recent behaviour.  I used to go out at least 3 to 4 times a week, now I’m down to maybe 1 outing and I have no qualms about spending the whole weekend without setting foot in a bar.  Yesterday I came home from the gym, made honey dijon chicken with roasted potatoes and asparagus, talked on the phone, watched some telly and then went to bed and was as happy as a clam with my activities.  Whereas if that was me circa 2002 I would be trying to find something to do and would be lucky if I made it home before 4am… (On a weeknight!!  Clutch the pearls!)

I had a pretty fun weekend.  I love it when there’s loads of activities to do.

Got my hip hop/rap fix and saw Dj Revolution on saturday.  He is awesome.

In “No One Cares What You Think Kiki” news,  I just want to say that I do not like SpectraSoul’s Organizer.  It’s no secret that I’m actually a big Spectrasoul fan, it’s just that I’m just sick of hearing that track on every mix and I don’t think it’s dope at all.

So I figured, 1 year older, why not change the look a bit.  I’m not really sure that I like it but it’ll do.  I’m too much of a miser to pay for an upgrade to have a better choice of themes so these free ones are all I have. Hwilde informed me that “your template is all girly now!”  What can I say, there’s obviously a 4 year old girl trapped inside me somewhere that decided this pink explosion was the next best move. 😉

I’m happy it’s friday.  Spinn, the weekend, no work for 2 days… Bliss.  I haven’t really been that into this week to be honest.

We all know I’m Bassdrive “all day e’rry day” but I recently discovered Dj Amnesty’s show and I’m hooked.  I tune into Bassdrive throughout my workday and I usually have specific shows that I’m locking in for.  For a while I didn’t actually know when his show was on.  I would come across a replay or just happen to tune in mid show every now and again.  Now I’m in the know and I’m a fan.  Definitely check him out.  Thursdays 7am to 9am CST / 1pm to 3pm UK.  I know that’s early for us on this side of the pond but you can also catch the archive on his website www.djamnesty.com.  I listened to his set the entire time I was at the gym yesterday and loved it.  Big up Bangkok!

Grrr.  I fucked up my shoulder at the gym yesterday.  Pain, pain, pain.  The annoying part about shit like that is you just have to wait for it to go away.

Shakedown was fun yesterday at first I was miserable cuz I was tired and my shoulder hurt but then I went home, relaxed for a bit and came back and kicked it.  Lava being a 5 minute walk from my house is always a bonus.  I loved Dave Owen’s set.  Good tunes.

I have 2 distinct group of friends.  My drum n bass posse and then my non-electronic music peeps which mostly consists of hip hop/rap folks.  It’s nice having 2 different types of events to go to all the time.

Last night I went to a Rude 1 show at Lava.  They are always fun.  People always come out and they have a good vibe.  I don’t really listen to rap/hip hop.  I listen to so much dnb that I don’t really have time to and I definitely don’t listen to mainstream stuff cuz I don’t listen to the radio so I’m usually out of the loop.  I like going to these shows cuz they play all the good ish that I know nothing about.  Good times last night.

Oh man.  This is awesome.  If you never got this mix this would be the perfect time to get it.  I remember being obsessed with it back when it came out.  Awesome tracks.  Just awesome period.  Storm recently did an event to remember Kemistry who passed away 10 years ago.  I guess Dogs On Acid is making the mix available for free download.  Definitely a must have.  Woot.
