I spent 3 hours cleaning my place yesterday to prepare for my bday extravaganza. It’s not really an extravaganza, I just like using that word. Anyways I think I inhaled too many cleaning product fumes. My nose is all stuffed up and I swear I smell Lysol Bathroom Cleaner yet I’m at work so that’s impossible. LOL

If you get a chance you should totally listen to that Operon Mix I posted yesterday. It was the soundtrack to my cleaning and was so good!

Okay so the damage isn’t as severe as I thought. I’m no longer limping but my knee does have a goose egg black and blue welt and my back is really killing me. I can barely bend over. My face does have a black and blue bruise but it’s on my cheek bone and it’s kinda small so you could only see it if you were staring at my face for a long period of time which I hope you have no reason to do cuz I hate people staring at me anyways. My mum says to give my back a couple of days to heal and if it still is causing problems then to go to the doctor. Really though… who falls in the bathtub??? Me of course. *sigh*

Today’s Oldie: Calibre feat. Singing Fats – Drop It Down – Signature Records 2004 I remember there always being an ultimate summer anthem. Each year a dnb track would take over the summer and that would be all you heard and you would wait anxiously for your copy. Obviously I’ve gotten older and my tastes have changed so I’m sure there’s been loads more since then and it just wasn’t my cup of tea or something but for me personally this track was one of the last real times I remember going to a show during summer holidays and having everyone go nuts every time this track came on regardless of what type of dnb you liked. It’s my ultimate summer anthem.

So I totally jacked up my shit. I slipped and fell in the shower this morning. Am I 80 years old? I think I was just lazily standing under the water. I was taking a shower at 4:30 a.m. so that might have something to do with my cracked-outness. My knee is all jankified and my cheek is bruised. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s black and blue by tomorrow. Great look for bday party photos. Whatever, that shit hurt.

Have you listened to that Hayze Influenza Media Podcast? Awesome. I’ve been listening to it for the past two days.

Spherique – Falling Leaves Russia is seriously on fire these days. I am digging all the producers I’m hearing from there. Love this track. So so pretty! I imagine lying in a forest during Autumn in a hammock. Have you ever asked yourself why I’m always imagining being anywhere but where I really am?? LOL. Track is in the player.

Mutt has an LP out on Inside Recordings. Love it. Really good tracks. I’m especially digging Rumours and Big Lights, Big City. Awesome Style Wars sample in Big Lights, Big City.

I’m kinda out of it.  I went to bed really early and then woke up at 1 a.m. because I really can’t sleep more than 4 hours.  Did some laundry, did the dishes, cleaned my room, then went back to sleep from 430 a.m. to 6 a.m.  Which is all fine and dandy but now I’m cracked out.  I really have to figure out how to sort out my sleep pattern.

Friday means what??  Spinn of course.  If you missed it go to his site and get the archive.  Good good ish.

I’m in planning mode.  I’m having a bday party at my house and am trying to get my self sorted.  I want it to be fun but not crazy.  I’m too old for crazy.

I swear I said I liked autumn… not fucking winter. It is really cold outside. Dang.

It’s funny when you have these mini moments in your life where you reflect and you’re like, damn I’m an adult. We went out to dinner for Stunna’s bday last night and it was really nice. All I require for my night to be great these days is the company of my lovely friends and a good meal. I can guarantee you that was not the case when I was in my early 20s. LOL.

I’ve been listening a lot to that Paul SG Bios Podcast for the past two days. What a great mix. I know I talk about Paul SG’s production a lot but you should really check it out. Just awesome stuff. Some gems that I’ve picked out from the mix that I love are Touch and Memphis Blues which is a collabo with Caine. Just listen to the mix. You won’t be sorry. 😉

Today’s Oldie: Cause 4 Concern – Skewer 2001 Renegade Hardware There’s something really sad and eerie about this track that just gets me. I love it. I remember I played it a lot. I just think all the elements have great impact once they hit your ears. I feel like it’s one of those tunes that you just kinda stand in the club and wish you were standing as close to the speaker as possible so you can just blissfully nod your head. Renegade Hardware was one of my main go to labels back then.

If’ you’re down to party tonight, Stunna’s having a bday jam at Seminar. Come out and hear him and Grand Marquee and Radiata. Should be fun times. 🙂

It’s my birthday in two weeks. I love this time of year. I’m an autumn baby and love this season to bits. The greyness, the leaves all over the ground. Awesome. I pretty much dream of weather where I can wear just a hoodie year round but instead will settle for the months of September and October.

My bike has a flat tire. Lame.

Robot Redford & M. Sauer – Missing Out – I’ve been hearing this on a lot of mixes. I really like this tune. Track is in the player

Future Sound of Cambridge Vol. 3 – Some nice tracks on there from the likes of Nu:Tone, Logistics and Commix. A couple of tunes that I’ve talked about before are on there. Dunno if I’ll be picking it up… Watch someone’s gonna play one of these tracks out and I’ll hear it on a loud sound system and be annoyed I didn’t buy it. Story of my life. 🙂

Today’s oldie: Jonny L – Moving Thru Air (Optical Remix) – XL Recordings 1998 I definitely was quite the Optical fan back then. I will fully admit that I had an all out dnb crush on him. I think mentally I was just on this gritty plane where I wanted my music to be raw and disgruntled yet melodic but not loud and noisy and to me Optical’s production was just that. Really great tune.

Today’s Oldie: Dj Die – Autumn (Commix Remix 2004 Liquid V) I remember when I got that Planet V album. 1999 was a good year for dnb I tell ya. This album was sooooooo good. So many awesome tracks. I really liked the feel of Dj Die’s original but I remember I wasn’t really that in to the bassline. I thought it was ok but didn’t think it was up to the calibre of the essence of the track as a whole. I would just play the intro and then mix out once the bassline kicked. 5 years later, enter Commix… I love remixes that still use the same elements of the original and just enhance it by filling in blanks etc. Commix did such an awesome job with this remix. Really great track all round, both original and remix.

Yeh so I’m djing at Seminar tonight.  If you live in the Chi, come out.

I was practicing yesterday and I sounded like shit.  Everything was sounding ultra wack.  We’ll see how it goes.  I’m not gonna stress on it anymore, I’m having an annoying enough morning as it is.  If my set ends up being horrible, I’ll get over it.  All in all it’s an opportunity for all my friends to come hang out and drink.  See, I like to have positive outlooks.

I have a lot of work to do.  I’m not happy about it at all.  The words crabby bitch come to mind.  I definitely do not look anything like this picture below today.  What a lovely pleasant person I am today!  LOL!

Today’s Oldie:  Dj SS – Black (Formation Records 1995)  I had just become obsessed with jungle when  I first heard this record.  I had spent the two years prior trying to get my hands on every ragga jungle mix tape I could come across.  I remember I had gone to a rave in London with my cousin where SS had played and I was amazed when I heard Whitney Houston coming through the speakers.  It was one of the very first jungle tracks that I loved that used an R&B sample.  I knew back then I had made the right choice to become ridiculously obsessed with this music! 😉
