It’s Friday, You Ain’t Got No Job…., You know the rest

Who knew it was possible to have a love affair with a day of the week? I definitely heart fridays.

If after all my non stop chatter you still don’t listen to Spinn every friday at 9 a.m. cst on Bassdrive you are definitely a fool. πŸ˜‰ It really is just an awesome way to start your weekend.

I haven’t really been on the ball this week. I attribute that to pure laziness.

I have been listening to that Hayze Sonorous mix that I posted a lot though. It’s really good.

Lovin this one:

Have a good weekend.

Wobble Wobble Wobble

The tracks that Distance was playing yesterday were pretty insane. Dubstep on a loud sound system is just crazy. I feel like I totally had my bass screwface on the whole time the wobble bass was in effect. It was just sick. πŸ™‚ He didn’t go on til one though and I left at 2. So I enjoyed a good hour of the dubstep attack. I can’t stay out late when I have to be at work in the morning. I cherish the little sleep that I do get.

My boss isn’t here yet and I really don’t have anything to do so I’m kinda just twiddling my thumbs listening to Spinn on Bassdrive.

I feel like I’ve gotten a lot of really good mixes over the past couple of day so I’m kinda looking forward to listening to them this weekend.

Some of the mixes I have been listening to at work have been throwing in old jams which are so great to hear. I wanna do an old skool mix but the organization of my records is pretty crap as I had made the transition from crates to a lovely record shelf and didn’t keep order as I did that. Now that I’m going to have two lovely days off a week, wanting to make this mix might give me the incentive to put some order to my vinyl… I said might. πŸ˜‰

I can’t believe I’m actually admitting this but I really like that Noisia track – Diplodocus. (track is in the player) Yikes. I generally dislike most Noisa stuff. It’s just not really my cup of tea. Diplodocus makes me wanna rave out though. I feel like it’s a total party tune.

I heard this track this morning but I don’t really have that much info on it. Boo. I just remember it was really pretty and I can’t seem to find any info on the artist. Boo squared.

Dub-L – Calling

I’m gonna try and make the clock move faster with my jedi mind tricks. Have a good weekend.

Don’t Hang Up The Phone!!

I can’t remember if I wrote about this already or not but my phone has been fucked for like the past week. At first I was really into the silence but now it’s kinda lonely. I can make calls but not receive them or receive texts BUT if I’m on the phone then it works. How ridiculous is that? I can’t just stay on the phone forever.

Going to the Distance show tonight. Woot woot. I’m excited to hear good music. Should be fun.

Hunting for a dress for this wedding I’m going to next week is getting on my nerves. I know exactly what I want but I can’t seem to find it. That’s why it would be cool to be a designer cuz you would just make what you want and not have to worry about endless annoying shopping trips searching for something that resembles what you would like.

Man, that spotlight mix of Specific on Bassdrive yesterday was awesome. Definitely into that dude’s tunes. I’m the worst trainspotter ever. I always miss track ids and constantly ask for them to be repeated and usually still end up getting them wrong. My favourite track on the mix yesterday was called Something New. I’m pretty sure it was by Specific and I’m pretty sure that was the title, but like I just said, I’m not the best at paying attention so I could be wholeheartedly wrong.

The Arbitrators are on holiday this week so I guess there’s not much going on in the Workers’ Compensation Law world which means I’m doing menial mundane tasks around the office. It always seems like fun to have nothing to do but it’s really only fun for a couple of hours and then you just get bored of being bored.

Toodloo for now

Apparently someone likes L.A.O.S as much as I do. πŸ˜‰ Really nice mix from Dj Lixx.

Good Times

I had a really good night last night. As I slowly make a name for myself in the geriatric community, I don’t really need much, just good music and good company. Yesterday I had exactly that. The pic is hopefully how I’m starting to look as I enter my senior citizen stages. Dashing old black lady. Dope.

Submorphics and Stunna came over and we did a little preparty and then headed to Lava. I was surprised by Lava, there were people there actually dancing and they weren’t crazy weirdos, it was just people having fun. Really nice vibe and awesome music. I danced a whole bunch. Both Whoa-B and Stunna really threw down. Stunna played a hot number from good old Will Miles that was just banging. I guess it’s a Talkbox Remix that he did. Don’t really have any other info on but just know it’s a hot one! πŸ˜‰

Heard some jammers yesterday. No samples. 😦

Dj ClartCity of Men

Paul SG & PouyaStanding Alone (Paul SG is seriously one of my faves right now. I love all the stuff he’s doing!)

Stunna & AmaningLandslide (I had actually heard this tune before and meant to write on it but, surprise surprise, I forgot. LOL. I think Stunna and Amanning just make a really good team. Their collabos are always slamming.)

Yesterday Stunna started his Bassdrive show with Commix’s Hung Up. Man, what a great tune. It made me think of this Commix mix from when they were on Fabio’s show last year. It’s a mini mix of some of the tunes they chose not to put on the album and it’s seriously amazing. Just beautiful drum n bass. There’s no tracklist cuz they didn’t even really say the names of the tracks.

Party!

Ugh. I’ve become one of those people that eagerly awaits friday’s arrival. My jobs usually have been restaurants or retail and you actually dread friday’s cuz that means the weekend’s here and we’re going to be horribly busy. Knowing I only have 4 weeks left at adidas makes me excited for fridays cuz pretty soon I’ll have 2 days of freedom. Holla!

I’m actually in a pretty good mood. I’m excited for Jess’s party tonight and for my friends from Minneapolis to get here. The party is gonna be really fun. How can it not be? It’s an event involving my closest friends. It’s kinda hard not to have fun when you’re surrounded by people you’re fond of.

I listened to Spinn’s show again this a.m. I really like his show a lot. I feel like it’s a very friendly dnb environment. It’s nice to know that you can just tune in and hear a friendly voice play music that you like and inform you about the latest dnb artists and what not. I keep gushing about him so much cuz I’m a new listener. I was not really around to listen to Bassdrive shows before cuz I was working retail and the only ones I usually did take time to tune in to were Stunna’s and Pipeline’s cuz they are people I hang it with all the time so I would just tune in automatically. Anyways Spinn is a welcomed addition to my friday schedule.

Donnie (Future Prophet) kindly informed me about the Zyon Base tracks that he played on wednesday which I greatly appreciate and can now stop griping about not finding the ones I like. Tombstone Blues is great. Low bassline with a silky vocal. Nice tune. It’s in his player.

Dan Marshall Same ‘Ol. Great tune. I have this raggedy post it note that’s sticking out of my notebook telling me to write about this track. That was last month. I definitely am not the most organized person. It’s a real great tune. I dont’ have a sample of it, I don’t even have a mix with it on there so I just listen to the Bassdrive hoping someone will play it. What a saddo I am. Hee hee. Spinn actually played it this morning so I was happy. You can listen to the archive of his show here.

Stunna & ContourConfusion. Love it! I feel like I’ve become Blaine Edwards and

Antoine Merriweather from In Living Colour!!! Love it! Hate it! LOL. I’m still really into Neverlove. They make a good team… Stunna and Contour I mean. πŸ˜‰

Stunna played a pretty cool Blake Reary remix yesterday by Advisory (there’s a sample in the player). Atmospheric and pretty indeed.

Man, do I want to leave. Maybe if I actually do some work time will fly by faster.

Have a good weekend

Busy Body

Is busy body one word or two? And… Does anyone use that term besides my mum and 75 year old ladies??

Ugh my throat hurts again. 😦

Lame.

It’s 2:20 p.m. The clock needs to move a wee bit faster in my opinion.

Listening to Stunna on Bassdrive, you should tune in.

Busy, busy, busy. I’m sure there’s a ton of stuff I could talk about but I’m a bit too preoccupied.

Liquid Lovin

I actually had a really good weekend. I’ve been really bored with my life lately. Shit just becomes too stagnant when you do the same things over and over again. I haven’t been frequenting Lava as much. I haven’t been kicking it with the usual suspects at the usual places. It was nice to just change stuff up. I hung out with different people and just didn’t do the same things I always do. It was really refreshing.

I went to see Stepbrothers. I admit that Will Ferrell can get annoying but I thought this movie was really funny. I think my expectations were really low and therefore I enjoyed it even more, but for what it was it was ridiculously funny. I laughed the entire time. As long as you don’t go into something pretending it something else you’re usually not going to be disappointed.

I was pretty busy this weekend and didn’t have time to go to the apple store, hence, I’m still ipod less. I rode my bike today, so no one harassed me on the train. I’m excited to get back into my ipod world but at the same time I’ve unfortunately gotten used to the mundane ipodless world.

Saw this new Commercial Suicide release that I’m kinda digging. Chris SU, Stress Level and Ant TC1, you can’t really go wrong there. I haven’t really bought anything by Stress Level and Ant TC1 over the past year, so I’m happy to see something I actually like.

Chris SU & Ant TC1 / Chris Su, Ant TC1 & Stress Level – The Vendetta / Final Cut

The other day in the Bassdrive chat room, people were complaining about Chemical Records. I was so shocked. They were talking about not receiving records and people being rude. It’s weird when a place doesn’t have consistent service. I feel like it’s important to have uniform service. Not to be a consumer nerd but dang, if you don’t make sure your employees treat people all the same way, it’s a sure fire way to lose business. I’ve never had any problems with them. I’ve always had perfect service. My records arrive in a ridiculous record amount of time. All their employees have been nothing but exemplary to me. Crazy that others would have the complete opposite experience. Chemical should really sort that out!

I don’t usually like to post sendspace mixes cuz I like my downloading experience to be a one click operation but this Dj Clart and Simplification mix looks wicked so I guess i’ll concede for today. πŸ™‚

I <3 Weekends

I’m beginning to dread my weekly saturday shift at Adidas. Five more weeks until I no longer work there. I’m just really looking forward to having 2 days off a week. It’s not cool working six days a week. I’ve worked in the retail and restaurant industry for the past 13 years. In both of those arenas, the weekends are where the money is at so I’ve pretty much worked weekends for the past 13 years. Yikes. I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself with two whole days to do as I please. πŸ™‚

I’m kinda enjoying relaxing at work today. My boss is out of town and I’m listening to Spinn on Bassdrive so I guess I have everything I am in current need of for the next 3 hours.Β  We’ll make this post short and sweet. πŸ˜‰

LOL

Man, do I love to laugh.Β  I spend a majority of my day doing just that.Β  I find everything funny.Β  I am fortunate that pretty much all of my friends have the same sense of humour as me so I’m pretty much like Dave Chappelle in that one skit where he pretends to be Eminem and he’s like “I got jokes and jokes and jokes and jokes..” πŸ™‚

Usually when I wake up, I just get ready and go straight to work.Β  I feel like if I’m awake, what’s the point in sitting around waiting to go to work.Β  Today though my boss is out of town so I decided to take my sweet time and come in around nine.Β  I spent 2 hours watching Extras instead.Β  That’s pretty much one of my top 3 favourite shows.Β  I think Ricky Gervais is hilarious.Β  I loved the British version of The Office.Β  I like the American version too but I just like the BBC one more.

I’m always dying of laughter when I watch Extras.Β  If you ever get a chance to watch it you won’t be disappointed.Β  If you’re American though you might find season 2 funnier than season 1 cuz I feel like season 1 has more British stars in it and they might not be as funny to you.Β  The finale of season 1 though has Patrick Stewart and it’s a really great episode.Β  I’m asking for the dvds for Christmas for sure.

Moving on… I enjoyed listening to Bassdrive again today.Β  I was listening to Will Miles show.Β  Bassdrive is kind of a dream for me cuz I just get to listen to non-stop dnb and do my work and it’s not crap.Β  Heard this Stanza tune called Lost Out that I was really digging.Β  Will definitely be looking out for that one.

Good ol’ Marcus Intalex has another installment of Soul:ution Radio.Β  I see he has some Brother tracks on there.Β  I’ve been loving a lot of that dude’s stuff lately!

Enjoy.

Sir Grumbleton

Me and Stunna have had this joke about grumbling lately. I think grumble is such a great word. I’m doing a whole lot of it today. No specific reason. I”m just mildly discontented with my day and wish I was doing something else. I know it may sound crazy but I think a lot of this feeling has to do with the absence of my ipod. All of a sudden I feel like I have to pay attention to the outside world and it makes me really unhappy. Mainly because I’ve noticed there isn’t really that much interesting going on and it makes me even more disgruntled. At least I can play make believe when I have my ipod on and ignore everyone else. Thank god friday we’ll be here soon and I can by my new ipod and go back to living in my own world.

Another thing, I feel like I’m a “yuppie robot who hates their job and is stuck in traffic.” My best friend used to do a graffiti magazine called Life Sucks Die and they used to make these hilarious stickers with random shit on them. The yuppie robot was one of them.Β  It was a bumper sticker that said “Honk if you’re a yuppie robot who hates their job and is stuck in traffic!” LOL.Β  I feel like that lately as I trollop up the escalator with the rest of the a.m. workers who have packed themselves on the morning train. *sigh*

That’s enough grumbling. Aren’t you happy that I’ve managed to keep my complaints about people talking to me on the train out of my entries? It’s been in rare form but I don’t want to sound like a stroppy old cow so I’ve been keeping the whinging to myself. πŸ™‚

I’m listening to Overfiend on Bassdrive.Β  I keep hearing some bangers but I’m attempting to multi task and by the time I go in the chat room to get the track id, cuz I keep missing Louis say it, nobody cares anymore and doesn’t wanna answer.Β  I guess I’m not dedicated enough to go chasing anyone to get the tracklist.Β  Lame , I know, but I’m trying to get some work done.Β  I naturally have a Laissez-Faire attitude.Β  If I was supposed to know the name of the track someone would have told me. πŸ˜‰

I did manage to write down this one.Β  Intelligent Manners – On The Dance Floor.Β  I feel like I’ve been hearing a lot of his tracks lately and I’ve definitely been feeling them.

I also like Lenzman & Submorphics’ Respiration.Β  It fits nicely into my summer vibes collection I’m trying to build. It’s already out so you can pick it up where it’s not sold out like it is on chemical’s website! Way Back When is dope too.Β  I wrote about it before.

Also loving A-sides to Sugar Sweet.Β  Hot stuff.

Sorry I don’t have samples for these tracks.Β  I’m just hearing them for the first time and figured you can be on the look out for them just as I am.

I’m absolutely starving.

Mixology

I’ve had a pretty good morning. I had a lot of work to get done and nothing makes work go by faster than having really awesome music to listen to. πŸ™‚ I was tuned in to Spinn’s show on Bassdrive and not only did he have an awesome guest mix from dbAudio but his show was just really enjoyable to listen to.

It’s so corny when you say this out loud but it’s totally true, when you mix for an audience it is your responsibility to take them on a “journey.” You kinda have to know your audience and make sure you stay afloat. When you’re mixing at a club you kinda cater your set to the time you’re playing. Opening a show at 9pm and playing all angry white boy dnb probably isn’t the best thing.

In actuality you can play whatever the fuck you want but I’m just talking from a listener’s point of view. I am always in awe of people that can play for multiple hours like that. Spinn’s show is 3 hours long. Dang. (My friend Jessica says dang all the time and it’s just funny to use that word cuz it’s definitely filed in the nerdy word folder along with yowza) If i’m in the mood I can mix for 3 hours but I couldn’t see myself doing it every week. Props to all the superstars that have perfected that art.

Spinn has been playing so many hot tracks and unfortunately I’ve been running round the office and haven’t been able to jot them down in my ultimate nerd notebook. Go to his website and catch the archive if you wanna hear three hours of goodness.

I managed to write this one down though. Good stuff. Bassface Sascha & Franksen – Promised Land.

I can’t believe I manage to post mixes everyday. Thanks to Breaksblog and DnB Share for assisting me with that task. I try my hardest to post mixes that don’t suck. I actually listen to way more random mixes than I post but I wanna make sure they aren’t crap before I post them so it’s usually a lot easier to go with mixes by the usual suspects than just post some random ish and have you go “what the hell is she doing?” I check tracklists a lot. I’m enough of a dnb fan that most of the time if the tracks are good I can ignore the trainwrecking. But… I’m human like everyone else so I’d rather not hear clangalanging in my ear.

All this is leading up to me posting a mix that I haven’t already listened to. πŸ™‚ I hope it’s good. I’ve got no clue who this dude is but I like the tracklist and all this summer jam talk over the past week has made me wanna hear poolside cocktail anthems.

Going home to see my mum. Have a good weekend.
