No more wildin out… EVER. Remember that night that I stayed out til 5:30 a.m.? Well I got a fucking red light violation. Lame. I wish that shit didn’t take so long to process. My car is registered in my mum’s name and she kindly called to inform me of my $100 ticket that she received in the post yesterday. I guess that’s what happens when you’re rushing home cuz you have be at work in a couple of hours. Boo squared.

Last night was fun. I actually enjoyed Amit’s set. I got the news yesterday that Seminar is finishing. No more wednesday dnb night. I’m really bummed out about it. It’s been awesome to have, a local bar that I love, all my friends go to, and is a 5 minute walk from my house, be host to my weekly dnb outing. I’m just too fucking old to be traipsing around the city to go to dnb nights. I like to support my friends so I know I’ll still go out to dnb nights at other places but I can guarantee you it won’t be every week if it’s not within walking distance from my house. Sad. Sad that I’m a boring old cow and sad that my dnb weekly outings are finito.

I leave for Mexico today. I checked the forecast and it’s pretty much going to be 90 degrees the entire time we’re there. Vacay with my friends, best friend’s wedding, sunshine, sunshine and more sunshine. Nice.

I’m a little anxious about not writing in my blog. I know it’s dumb but I’m very OCD when it comes to things like that. I have consistently written in my blog 5 days a week since I started it in May and I hate looking at the calendar to the right and seeing empty spaces. I prolly shouldn’t be divulging my neurotic tendencies to you but I’ve already established that I’m kinda cuckoo so who cares. Anyways, lounging in the sun automatically trumps writing in my blog so I’m sure I’ll get over it.

I don’t mind the cold as much when there’s good tv to watch.  Flight of The Conchords season 2 just started and Bret, Jemaine and Murray are back to their old tricks.  Murray is definitely my favourite.  This show is hilarious.  Lovesit!

Small Bar was fun last night.  I got tired real quick though.  I feel like I’ve been running around a lot lately.  I keep saying I will just chill at the house but it doesnt actually end up happening.  I’ll work on it.  🙂

So I made my top 25 of 2008. I feel like it’s a bit nonsense to do this because a) I cheated and just did it from May onwards cuz that’s when I started my blog and have detailed documentation of all the tracks I liked and b) I obsess over tracks so much there’s no way I like a track that I heard in May as much as I do one I like today cuz of the whole “playing on repeat constantly” factor. I was telling Stunna yesterday that I’ve totally been in a lazy funk. At first I was annoyed and stressed for a couple of weeks and now I’m just lazy. I decided to snap out of it yesterday and I’m in full form again. I went crazy listening to dnb and am back to full on post it note scrawled pieces of paper form. I have tracks to talk about and I actually went out. Holla.

It was dubstep night at Seminar. Chicago’s dubstep scene really is fire. Nameloc and Borja are on some other shit with their production. Loves it!

I’ve had a pretty good week. I wonder when the novelty of not having to work on the weekends is going to wear off. This is the third weekend now and I still feel like it’s Christmas. LOL.

I’ve been listening to Amaning – Tranquility on repeat for the past 3 days. I know I’ve written about it before but I just bought the mp3 off Beatport. Before I had to fast forward to the end of this one mix I had to listen to it and that got kinda played out. I’m not sure why it only occured to me now to buy it off Beatport. LOL.

I can’t really explain to you why I’m so obsessed with the track. I’m quite aware that it’s old. I think I just love that there are some songs that pretty much set the tone for exactly how you’re feeling. I’m calm, tranquil, at peace, and every other synonym related to being serene, and that song has contently place itself as my background music. 🙂

I’m having a great day today.  It’s just nice to wake up in a good mood and have it continue hours and hours into the rest of the day.

Redeyes & Random Movement feat. Mutt – Groove Thing (track is in the Redeyes player) Nice collabo going on there.  Three of my favourite artists.  This is coming out on Future Retro.  BCee has a really good thing going with both Future Retro and Spearhead, I love a lot of the tracks that come out on both of them.

People are always asking me why I love liquid funk so fucking much.  LOL.  I’ve said this on numerous occasions but I’ll say it again…  I basically want pretend that I’m hanging out in a beautiful garden with multicoloured pastel drinks with umbrellas in them while lying in a hammock with sunglasses and pretty flower aroma blowing in the breeze and the sun shining through the trees but not on me as I don’t want it to be too hot.  Liquid funk pretty much helps me to create that pretend scenario,  Noisa on the other hand usually does not.  🙂

I’m halfway into this Zetek podcast mix and I already love it.  I will full on admit that I had no idea who he was until today but I’m definitely digging him now.

Carl Matthes & Bionic 1 – Let It Go: I really wish I had a sample of this for you. I’m gonna have to say it’s definitely my favourite tune right now. I’ve checked both of their myspaces and they haven’t posted it yet. Amazing tune. I actually heard it last week but I must have lost my scrawled tattered post it note that I had it written on cuz I didn’t write about it… unless I did and forgot, which I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if that was the case, you know how I am.

Naibu – Opium Lady: Oh Naibu, mon petit chou-fleur. He is just awesome. I love his stuff. This particular one isn’t in the player but there’s some other really great tunes in there too.

Dave Owen – A Little Of This: I’m really liking this dude’s style. Good track. (Sorry no sample)

B-complex – Ocean Deep: I’ve just recently been turned on to B-complex. I dig his stuff. Still loving Reflections too. (Both tracks are in the player)

I Got Tracks and Tracks and Tracks and Tracks…

I was thinking the other day about how many awesome tracks have been coming out lately.  There is just a really great group of producers out there right now making amazing stuff and it’s nice that it’s not just the usual suspects.  One person I’m really digging is Naibu from France.  I already picked up that Nami Island and I’m loving that Back Engineering.  Another group I’ve been turned on to is L.A.O.S. out of Finland.  I had a release that I picked up on one of those days that I was just itching to spend money and couldn’t find anything to buy and I quite liked it but never got anything else by them.  Right now though I’m totally into that Helsinki track of theirs.

I was listening to Brandy the other day and was thinking about how she is totally the dnb sample favourite.  LOL.  There are shitload of dnb tracks that sample her vocals.  TeeBee has two tracks that I love that use snippets of her tracks and there’s also a song on this Calculon mix below that samples “I Wanna Be Down.”  The vocal rifts on that song are very dnb compatible….. “And if I don’t let you know then I won’t be for real.”

I’ve been digging this Calculon mix.  It’s Rubik Records‘ Podcast number 10 and it’s just an all round good mix.  Rubik Records have a good podcast.  Stunna was on number 8.  You can download his installment at www.rubikpodcast.com.
