Oi! F Ur Bike

I have quite the affinity towards grime. There’s something about it that is so much like my secondary school days in London that I just love it. Me and Brandon were talking about More Fire Crew’s Oi! the other day and it totally made me think of the Sway and $tush video of F Ur X that I’d been meaning to post for a while. I just kinda spaced it but I was listening to the song this morning and decided it was a proper way to start my day. 🙂

Sway feat $tush – F Ur X

Mo Fire Crew – Oi!

I completely fucked my leg up on my bike yesterday. I have old school pedals and it was one of the things I need to change out but haven’t gotten around to it.  Yesterday was my warning cuz I scraped the fuck out of my calf.  It went pretty deep and all the way up my leg and there was blood everywhere. It hurt pretty bad but I figured it wasn’t that big of a deal and I could moan about it for a minute but when I woke up this morning my leg is really badly bruised and very swollen and I can barely walk on it. Lame.

Overfiend is in Chicago this week. He’s playing at Seminar tonight alongside my bff Pipeline, so if you’re around you should come hang out at Lava, should be good times. 🙂

Busy work day. Hopefully I can get into the Spirit of actually being productive… yeah yeah, pun intended, sometimes it’s necesary to be silly and unfunny, you can’t be perfect all the time. 😉

Pleasantville

I work six days a week, monday thru friday at my 9 to 5 and every saturday at adidas.   When sunday gets here I try my hardest to be the laziest person ever.  Most of the time I succeed quite beautifully.  Yesterday I was in rare form.  I’m pretty sure I laid in my bed watching tv online for about 5 hours.  That’s what happens when you find a whole series online and it’s actually good and you really can’t find anything better to do with your time. 😉

I’m actually having a pretty chill day today.  It’s a lot easier to get shit done when you’re in a good mood.

Here’s Some tracks I’m loving…

Weekend

I’m digging that Lynx tune Envy on Sonorous.

No amazing dnb insights today.  I’m just too busy and the overload of work is making me crabby.  I’m not as crabby as I was yesterday, just a bit miffed that’s all.  I’m so happy that the weekend is finally here and I can relax.  Yay.

Stunna turned me on to his buddy Ros’s mix.  Check it out.

I Hate You..

And by you I mean everyone and everything. Well not really. I’m just really tired and in a bit of a strop. I’ve been overexerting myself lately and I feel like my body and mind are not happy with me. I need some serious meditation time.

I’ve been scouring the new releases. Ugh, there’s a pretty horrible Lifting Spirits tune on the list. Sad. I used to really like Lifting Spirits. Not anymore I guess. There was an Atlantic Connection release with Lynx. I thought it was okay, nothing mind boggling though. I actually really like a lot of AC tracks, but I think Water is one of my tops for sure. It’s one of my “I’m depressed” tracks that I love to listen to. Sometimes when I’m a bit down in the dumps I just need some melancholy dnb to accompany in my misery. There was also a Q Project on the list. Meh. I used to be totally obsessed with Q Project. I felt like he had a really good run for a while a couple of years back. That’s totally my personality. I’m quite the extremist. It’s kinda all or nothing for me. I’ll be super into something and exhaust it to all ends and then just eliminate it from my life.

Man, I’m totally Negative Nelly today.

I won’t inflict my crabbiness on you any longer. Storm should get me back on track. She’s awesome and one of my faves.

Eternally yours,

Sourpuss Sally

I Object Your Honor

The one thing about my job is if one person doesn’t come to work it fucks up everything for the other lawyers.  Each lawyer has their own assistant so if they don’t show up they are fucked and have to find someone else to do their work.  There’s only 4 employees at my firm.  1 of them is out sick.  Now I’ve got a bunch of shit on top of my other shit and it’s actually not hard stuff to do, it’s just that it makes for a really long fucking day and it’s only 9 am. *sigh*

I’ve been listening to that Format mix that I posted before that had all the new Zero T tracks on it over and over for the past couple of days.  Dnb is really great to work out to, so that’s been my elliptical machine mix.  I’ve actually been listening to some of the same mixes on repeat for the past 5 days so I feel like I don’t have that much to report in the new tracks department.  I feel like when I listen to Bassdrive today I might have some stuff to discuss cuz that’s where I’ve been hearing all my new shit lately.

One that sticks out is that Dave Owen – On Point tune.  Definitely digging that one.  It’s just a party tune.  I don’t know why I didn’t write about that one before because I’ve actually been into it for the past month.  I don’t have a sample sorry.  I’m loving Tyler Straub’s stuff too.  Easy Does It?  That’s a complete summer jam.

I could rant forever but I’ve got a bunch of work to do.

Method One is at Seminar today.  It’s him and Submorphics.  I’m looking forward to good music and my friends.  Shout out to Greg, play Desperate Times dammit. 😉

Tracktastic

I’m a little bit on the broke side these past couple of days so I’ve been trying not to keep up with too many tracks cuz I just get annoyed that I can’t buy them.

I have become completely obsessed with riding my bike though. The wind, the sun and the outdoors are seriously a great treat while riding around. 🙂

I was listening to the forthcoming tracks on Chemical and there was this DKay track on there. It was ok. It made me think how four years ago all I had to see was DKay’s name on a release and I would buy it. It’s just funny how one’s tastes change. There’s nothing wrong with DKay. I still like his stuff just fine. I think I’ve just reached a point where I expect more. It’s so exciting to listen to a new track and be completely wowed by how innovative it is and how people are taking production to new levels. With that said though, I really did like that DKay – Individual Soul. I would listen to the whole thing while driving to Madison to see my mum and just be completely engrossed in this beautiful jazzy dnb world. If you’ve never listened to it you totally should. It’s quite amazing.

I saw that Lenzman & Submorphics – Respiration/Way Back When promo on the new releases list. Isn’t Way Back When super old?? I feel like I heard that track ages ago. I think Lenzman and Submorphics is a really good combo. The record is great.

I can’t exactly remember who I was having the conversation with, I think it was Pipeline and Sable Gray, but you really can’t keep tracks under wraps for that long anymore. People get bored and don’t wanna buy them when it finally does come out. I feel like I would have totally bought that Lenzman & Submorphics record back when I first heard it, whenever it was, but it seems so old to me now that I wouldn’t even think about spending money on it. I remember hearing LK and not knowing the name of the track and being too far away from the decks to ask or trainspot and then the track didn’t come out until 2 years after that. I’m so glad those days are over.

Alix Perez & Lynx were on Kiss FM. They are definitely two of the dnb darlings right now. It’s nice to be able to hear all these mixes but I’m starting to get the One Nation tape series syndrome. You know what I mean? People mix out so much these days that I’m hearing the same sets with the same tracks over and over again. I find myself having to listen to old mixes to switch it up or just picking one out of the many mixes I’ve downloaded because they all have the same tracks. I’m not complaining really. I think I just am gonna have to try harder to find mixes by different people instead of downloading the usual suspects all the time.

Even though I just prattled on about hearing the same tracks all the time, I do actually think that I only know like 5 tracks on this tracklist so it should be a good listen. 🙂

Is That You Biffy?

With the workload so heavy this week I’ve been coming in to work at 7 am. I know that sounds insane but I’m already up so I just leave the house instead of mucking about and watching tivo. It’s nice to get out at 4 pm too. The only drawback is that I’m going to bed super early cuz I’m so tired by the time it gets dark.

Seminar was really good last night. Sable Gray was dope and we all know how I feel about my buddy Stunna. 😉 I was just so tired though and I could barely keep my eyes open so I left early. I’m pretty sure I’m also just exhausted from the overhaul of exercise I’ve been getting the past couple of days. I got my bike this week and have been riding it to work. It’s a bit of a shock to my lazy ass when the majority of exercise I usually get is the 1 minute walk to the train station from my house! Anyway I’m digging the bike. It’s nice riding all over the city.

I feel like a naughty blogger because I haven’t really been able to tell you all the tracks I’ve been loving lately. This week at work is just hectic so hopefully I’ll be back in full chatterbox form soon.

In the meantime here’s this Chris Inperspective mix. Stunna was telling me how his new stuff is awesome and I just hadn’t really taken the time to listen to any of it, that was until I heard Biffy’s Not Here. Stunna played it before and it totally caught my ear. Sick tune. It’s hauntingly deep. Definitely loving it. There was this mix from the beginning of May that I had actually already downloaded but never listened to and Biffy’s on there so I guess I’ll be raving out to this one while I try to get through my ridiculous pile of work.

Bangers & Mash

Can we talk about how exciting today is?! Well okay not that exciting, I do love to exaggerate, but exciting enough when you’ve been inquiring about a track to no avail and you finally have a breakthrough. 😉

There’s this Survival tune that I’ve been loving since I heard it on Sabre’s Pyro Radio Mix. It’s the ultimate banger. Sabre said he had forgotten the name of it and then it seemed like other’s kept playing it and wouldn’t say what it was called. Fortunately I now I have the name of it and I can add it to my scroll of tracks that I’m waiting for. It’s called The Right Way and it’s on his Audiotactics page and I obviously didn’t look that hard for the name of the track cuz I’m pretty sure that tune has been up there the whole time. *sigh* Gimme a break, I have a short attention span. I never look for stuff for too long because I space out and forget and start doing something else.

I’m going to Seminar tonight. Sable Gray/Memory Trace is playing.

Sorry this is just a quick post. The work pile doesn’t seem to be letting up yet. Breaksblog hasn’t been posting mixes as often as they usually do. I’ll check out this Wilsh one though.

Don’t Tell Kiki The Babysitter’s Dead

My brother always makes fun of me for my issues about being left out. I’m convinced it’s a drawback of being the middle child. I have no qualms admitting that I suffer from middle child syndrome. You’ve witnessed it many times on here already… “Why don’t I know who Paul SG is?” “Why don’t I own that Zero T and Icicle track?” “Why didn’t anyone tell me I had a high voice?” and the latest “Am I the only one that doesn’t really know anything about beatport?” I act like people purposely exclude me from stuff. 😉

I posted that top 10 of Stunna’s yesterday. I didn’t know you could get the tracks. I’ve actually never used Beatport. Pipeline was telling me how he bought a bunch of tracks off of there the other day. Is it mostly for electronic music? Is it like an itunes store? I feel like I always ask stupid questions so sometimes I just keep shit to myself and live in a bliss of ignorance but then when everyone starts talking about shit I don’t know, I’m all like “How come no one told me?”

I don’t know what I’d do with the mp3s anyways. I guess I could listen to the individual songs on my ipod. I don’t own serato so that’s a no go. I definitely wouldn’t burn them to mix on cdjs because I’m absolutely rubbish on those things. I think it is a combination of being too heavy handed and impatient and therefore not really being able to master them. I’m sure if I didn’t have the attention span of a 3 year old it’s something I could learn to do properly but since I don’t mix out regularly enough to warrant getting the hot new tunes on mp3 I think I’ll just stay in my bliss of ignorance that I talked about a couple of sentences ago.

* Does everyone speak in long run on sentences like I do?? *

Moving on, I can’t remember the name of it but there was this Specific tune that I was nutters about, something about “breaking my heart.” Stunna turned me on to it and I’m pretty sure I even myspaced Specific to tell him how much I loved it. I swear I really don’t think I’m that much of a nerd in real life, crazy, yes, but nerdy, not necessarily all the time. Unfortunately when it comes to dnb I start to do super geeky things. I can’t help it some tunes just make me too excited.

The #3 Vandal Records podcast is by Specific. I’m excited to listen to it. I didn’t listen to the last Vandal podcast but the two before that by Redeyes and Peyo were my favourites for a while. It’s become quite silly to talk about what are my favourites. Basically i like dnb. I have a lot of favourites. The only things I will really say I dislike are clownstep and really noisy angry white boy dnb.

I have a bunch of tracks that I keep wanting to write about but time keeps escaping me. When I get all caught up at work I’ll have to do a list of my top ten or something.

Choon

Went to the Teebee show on saturday after all. Who was I kidding. I didn’t really have anything else to do. He played that Chase & Status “Take Me Away” tune that I told you I liked the other day. Pipeline liked it too. A lot. 🙂  I’ve actually already listened to the Format mix I posted below. I quite enjoyed it. There’s some cuts on there from Zero T’s upcoming album. So far the few tunes I’ve heard have been awesome.

I have a bunch of weddings and shit coming up this year so I feel like I’ve had to penny pinch which is kinda sad cuz there’s actually loads of records I want.

The day has actually passed me by. I’ve been semi busy at work. I actually had a lot of stuff I wanted to post about but that’ll have to wait til tomorrow. In the meantime check out the Format mix and peep Stunna’s top 10 which I’m sure I’ll hear him play and own next year sometime. 😉
